Yak Attack GT175 Generation II GearTrac

For quality, I am very happy with this product. It is made of a light aluminum. I'll admit, feeling how light it was, I was a little concerned that it would be made of metal so soft that it would deform under use, but I actually found it to be tougher and ready to stand up to more than the tracks that came pre-molded into the hull of my kayak. And after setting up and taking down every accessory on my kayak (during a month-long trip up the Pacific Coast), these rails still look brand new. Not a single scratch or sign of wear on them. One of the plusses of the lighter metal, is it's easy to cut to a custom length with a compact hacksaw. And as other commenters have remarked, you can even round the corners of your cut by rubbing the metal on concrete until you get your desired shape. I ordered six of these and cut them to the custom sizes I wanted before mounting them all over my kayak (plus two 12-inch units that I didn't have to modify). (Also: Don't forget to use a good quality silicone in the screw holes, so you don't end up with leaks in your boat. I've been very happy with Marine Goop.) Now, I always have a rail anywhere I want one. I also ordered an extra rail that I keep in my land-bag, so I can add another modification while out in the world, if I find another spot where I wish I had a rail. After a full season of kayaking, I have no negative remarks for this product and would purchase it again without a second thought. If that ever changes, I'll update this review.

Took ages to arrive, way past the ETA. When I received, it turned out to be much too wide to fit my kayak. Disappointing all around.

Yakatack "T" headed bolts make mounting placement of rod holders and other boating accessories very convenient. The nice thing is you can easily remove items that are secured using this system so if you have something you dont want damaged or stolen simply loosen the bolts and slide it off the track then when you want to use it slide it back in place and tighten it down. Works for many items from cup holders to fish finders etc. I never realized how useful it was until I had a kayak that had some built in. These aluminum ones are the strongest system.

The Yak Attack Gen II GearTracs are awesome, strong and you can trust your attachments to them. I have them installed on our kayaks and fishing boats. I’ve installed the GearTracs using self-tapping screws, rivets and bolts, depending on the vessel. The GearTracs make mounting depth finders, rod holders, nav lights and action cameras. … worth every penny.
