Creamy Original Plant Based Chao Shreds, 7 OZ

It melts great; mild/ closest to real cheese flavor.

I have tried SO MANY vegan cheese products. Most of them wind up in the garbage. This is the first vegan cheese I’ve tried that heats into a truly creamy cheese flavor. There’s no odd after taste, no weird texture and no “plant-like” sensation at all. It’s just creamy goodness when used on baked potatoes, grilled cheese or to top casseroles. Do note though that it’s not the best melting product. It softens and tastes “melty” when heated, but it does not always truly melt entirely well. You may have to be a bit flexible because “almost” melted turns out to be equally tasty. If using to top a casserole or other baked products, use caution because it only needs about 10(ish) minutes. It will definitely get hard if cooked too long.

Since I became a vegan a year ago, cheese has been a struggle. Though this is not a perfect substitute for cheddar by any stretch, it is still pretty good. The flavor is mild but pleasant and it melts fairly well. I like it in macaroni and cheese, on top of chili, and in quesadillas. Best of all there is no aftertaste or strong flavor of coconut, like you get in other vegan cheeses.

Taste better than others, has flavor like cheese should. I will definitely purchase again.

This is a very tasty cheese alternative when you can’t have dairy but it doesn’t melt as well as regular cheese. Otherwise it’s amazing and I will still buy it while I can’t have dairy.
