Buy this book!
This book is full of great ideas for developing social/emotional skills for kids (and even some good ideas for adults)! It’s broken down into skill areas (empathy, resourcefulness) and each section has building blocks and stumbling blocks for each gender. Each section ends with practical how to steps with activities, book book recs, etc. It is a great read!

Very useful tool for child rearing
We have purchased a number of books to help guide us as we attempt to shape our granddaughter into caring, responsible, contributing person. This is one of the best (along with Love And Logic). Covers newborns to teens honestly. Focuses on key problems and offers reasonable approaches for most of them. I loved that one of the authors said she basically tells all teenage girls that the are a mess, but don't need to be that way forever (paraphased) .

No matter how old your kids are, it is never too late to read this book. It digs in deep and gives helpful, practical advice. A definite must read!

i have underlined and highlighted so much. it was such an easy read!!!! i love how each section is broken down into girls and boys. the practical ideas at the end of every chapter is phenomenal and helped put some of the things i learned into action. these authors are wonderful. i will be reading more of all of their books. there were so many books referenced in this one that are now on my reading list. thank you !
