This is an awesome tool. I was able to easily follow the directions, attach a battery and the saw blade and get started. Very quickly I removed a entire hedge line (that was overgrown and needed to be removed/replanted). The saw was easy to use, not too heavy and worked with great precision.

Like the compact design. Versatile and easy to use. Nice weight. Battery life depends on what size you use. Good value. Dewalt quality.

Bought a resale version for $181, definitely the way to go unless the condition is unacceptable. Bought this model before, this one is a gift. DEWALT’s xr max tools are durable and powerful, I’ve bought this line for years, my batteries are still going strong after 6 years and the tools the same. I’m sure other top manufacturer tool lines are good but DEWALT has such a versatile tool lineup you can’t go wrong picking them.

Really liked the compact design, and the 4-way blade orientation really came in handy (used regular direction to cut through most of a 104 year old 2" cast iron drain pipe. Then reoriented blade sideways to finish cut in tight space). To cut cast iron, used slow to medium speed on variable trigger. At near to full speed this saw vibrates something fierce, even with good pressure and using two hands. Thankfully I only had a few cuts to make at a slower speed. If you are needing to make a lot of cuts at the full speed, you will really feel it in your entire arm. I wish you could extend the shoe on this saw like you can on other models. I purchased this one because of brushless motor and its compact size. The grip feels good. It would be awesome if dewalt had a speed dial in conjunction with the variable speed trigger like on my other-brand jigsaw. That and making the shoe extend and retract, rather than just pivoting would really add necessary functionality to this saw. This saw has great power (used 5ah XR Battery), but really DeWalt, what's with the all the vibration?

I find the DEWALT 20V MAX XR reciprocating saw to be quite reliable. It cuts through wood and metal smoothly and feels well-balanced during use. This thing rips. I trimmed up a pallet with a huge metal lathe still on it and I was able to get up close to the machine without issue. The depth of cut is nice with standard wood blades. Plenty of power to cut through several pieces of wood with a 2Ah battery. The quick change blade with multiple tool positions came in handy too. This tool has its uses just like a multitool oscillating cutter but it definitely deserves a spot in your tool bag.

I used it for pruning and it cuts super fast. Keep in mind this is a bare unit without batteries. I already have batteries since I own other Dewalt 18V (20V in US) power tools. Highly recommended.
