PULSE (Restored & Re-Edited)

Epic. Must see.
This was an epic concert. Whether you're a Pink Floyd fan or not, any fan of classic rock should experience the Pulse concert. Absolutely phenomenal. This bluray captures the experience pretty well considering it was 30 years ago, long before high definition recording came around. Five stars, no question. Enough said.

Phenomenal Audio!!!
Thus came in a few days ago and I popped it in with the intention of watching 2-4 songs only. PQ is pretty decent to very good. It’s a Blu-ray & I was watching on my 4K TV so the upscale was pretty good. I’d give it a 4/5-Stars there. — now, the Audio on the other hand IS WORTH THE PRICE OF THIS SET ALONE!! Good Lord, I was literally blown away listening to this. It’s a Dts-HDMA 5.1 lossless Blu-ray & whoever did the work on this (“Restored & Re-Edited”), did a Superb job!! I didn’t upscale the audio, just watched it as is (DtsHDMA 5.1), but I may try to Matrix it up to Dts Neural X just to see if it can sound that much better. AQ gets a perfect 5/5-Stars Easily! - the 2nd disc has some nice features but aside from the 3 listed videos, the other Live bonus tracks are audio only (PCM 2.0/Stereo), accompanied with video but not actual Live Concert video themselves unfortunately. But they still sound damn good. - Anyway, this is a great set for the Perfect Audio Alone on disc 1 from their 1994 Division Bell tour at their 20 October 1994 concert at Earls Court, London.

Great 1994 video and sound
This was a great concert, with many essential Pink Floyd songs from the time period. Picture and sound are wonderful for a 1994 recording. Some folks have complained that it is not full screen. You must remember, this was a 512 line 4:3 videotape. You cannot turn it into 2160 line (4k) at 16:9 without aspect ratio distortion (unnatural picture stretching). The editors did their absolute best with this master. The color and sound are great, while preserving the 4:3 aspect ratio of the original video. Kudos to the remastering team.I should add, the alternate to altering the aspect ratio would be cropping out part of the picture. I think giving us the full 4:3 original picture was a refreshingly good idea. Also, this original, being British videotape, was PALS, not NTSC, so we got a much better picture than if it had been shot in the US based NTSC standard.

Late period Floyd with some great performances and spectacle upscaled video.
Ok, if you can get past the fact that this isn’t Roger Waters version of Pink Floyd but David Gilmour’s. A terrific show that has all of the spectacle and, yes, quality music of going back to Syd (who started the band) through Roger (to led them to their greatest artistic and sales triumphs) and David (who managed to recapture that Floyd sound in a bottle for a pair of very good studio albums, world wide sold out tours. It’s a summary of the band’s career and a very good one. This remastered version is a terrific chance to see Pink Floyd perform at the height of their game as a touring unit (even without Roger who is ably replaced on the tour). David doesn’t dwell on ‘The Wall” (he does visit the songs that Gilmour had the largest impact on as co-writer and/or performer) go near “The Final Cut” or even “Animals” (which is too bad as it remains one of my fav Roger era albums). The two disc set also includes a booklet with plenty of pictures and, of,course, the little light pulsing. The remastering improves on the previous version but there are some inherent li itari0na of the video; since the show was shot on videotape, it is upscaled but has been restored. It looks pretty good but temper expectations as this ism’t going to look as good as if it had been shot 0n film. Aurally, it sounds exceptional although make sure to set up your system appropriately I.e.,if you’re going to listen in stereo select the stereo mix as when I tried the 5.1 through the stereo there was a buzz that wasn’t an issue when playing it through 5.1.For those complain(ng that this should have been remastered in 4K; it wouldn’t work because it was shot on standard video. You can upscale (which is what they did) which can squeeze every bit of detail out of the image but there’s just no 4K there to include.

A-effing-mazing!
Love it! we had been waiting a long time for the blu-ray version of this concert and found it to be well worth it. Sound quality is amazing. Different video clips here and there add much! The extra disc features have some great stuff on it. The first two videos on the extra features disc gives a whole different perspective on what Gilmour is saying. Highly recommend to any and all Floyd fans!
