How are these wheels on sand?

Terrible! Our wagon has not been the same since using at in the sand.

Does the canopy come off and on easily?

The clips broke on mine 3rd time using it

is the model with the canopy easier to steer than the one without it? Is it a newer model?

I don't know about the model without the canopy, but I have had a plastic version that was not collapsible and this canopy/collapsible model was so much easier to steer than the non-collapsible hard plastic model. I think this is a newer model, but I'm not entirely sure. Radio Flyer's website might show the newest model on there. But I highly recommend this model because it is collapsible, easy to pack for trips without taking too much space, and it steers really nice.
