RELIEF!! Itโs the real deal!!
I have to say I was a little bit worried about buying the smallest generator they make, but I added up all my wattage and had plenty left over. When it got here, the box was not damaged, and all of the parts were in the box. It takes about 30 minutes to put together if you read the instructions closely. Iโm able to power a portable air conditioner (large size, not window unit), a 14 ft.ยณ deep freezer, a 14 ft.ยณ refrigerator and a full-size dehumidifier. I also powered both of my 75 inch TVs and plugged in everything else that goes with themโฆ. I have a ton of LED lights and Alexa and what not. Everything got plugged in and the generator didnโt spot once. I guess the tomato I was using somewhere around 3000 to 3500 W which is well below its peak running wattage. I will say that you should definitely charge the battery upon arrival like I did not. When mine got here after I put it together it cranked right up with the start button so I thought no big deal. I checked it with my battery charger and mustโve misread it because I thought it said it was at 100%. I know this is not true now because I went to crank it yesterday just to make sure everything was still running OK and suddenly the start button did not work. They would not even try to turn over whatsoever. Just a bunch of clicking noises. So I plugged the battery charger back in to check the battery as customer Support told me to. It still said 100%. Turns out I did not have it selected on the right charging method so it was not giving me all of the numbers. I did not see that the voltage was very low and that it was not charged all the way. The moral of the story is charge the battery lol! I charged mine and now it purrs like a kitten again. A very large kitten! I purchased the tent accessory that is in the section of where โCustomerโs also boughtโ. Definitely a wise investment. It has kept it out of the elements, but fully functional if needed. One more mistake I made was when I went to fill the oil up. I did not make sure that the generator was level. So I had oil spilling out, thinking that I had overfilled and lo and behold it was just off balanceโฆ. Quite a bit haha. I just let it spill out until it was done and then I helped it a little bit more to make sure it wasnโt overfilled and everything was all fine. Now I have it set up on a pallet with two bricks on one of the sides to even it out perfectly. I mean dead on perfect. Got lucky there. I almost bought the 13,000 W version which wouldโve been unjustifiably too much for this house. At the time it was on sale for about $1100. I decided to go with my gut and just add up the wattage I needed, and it worked out. Oh, if you happen to put synthetic oil in on its first run, donโt freak out because thatโs exactly what I did. It was an accident. I bought both types and just put the wrong one in. Once it had been running it its first full cycle is when I figured it out. It has had no problems so I think youโre OK if youโve done like me. The control board is easy to operate and manage. Itโs pretty obvious what each thing does. It has all the features that I needed and worked out great. Just make sure you get one that is enough to power what you need and you will not be disappointed. Also upgrade your propane tanks to some 40 pound ones like I did. Itโll save you a lot of trips. And if you have to like me, and the power does go out and everybody is blazing the propane stores youโll just be sitting back like โwhatโs going on?โ Haha Sorry for the rambling I hope all of this was useful or some of it was useful to somebody. It was my first generator purchase and I knew absolutely nothing about them. I threw a dart and hit the bullโs-eye! One last thingโฆ I love that it has the four prong outlet that allows 120/240v. I have one cord that can handle 8000 W of electric electricity. It has four female ends to plug into. I had the AC unit, dehumidifier, deep freezer and refrigerator all on the same 10 amp cord and it didnโt even get warm. Not one bit. So invest in the right chords as you invest in this awesome generator!

Amazingly reliable generator!
I purchased my generator in November of 2020. After unboxing, I filled the engine case with the proper oil, filled the gas tank with Sta-bil treated regular unleaded, and charged the battery for about four hours. Then turned on the fuel valve and hit the electric start button and my generator was up and running perfectly. During the winter of 2020 - 2021 I probably used my new Duromax generator a half dozen times and I ran approximately five tanks of gas through it in total. It was used to power our natural gas furnace, our electric fridge, and a few lights during a couple day-two day power outages. It performed perfectly and we had absolutely zero issues or complaints with the little power house. At some point in the spring of 2021 I wheeled my little Duromax generator over to the corner of my garage and there it sat. We moved to a warmer climate that summer and of course our generator moved with us but sat unattended and neglected until mid November of this year, 2023. Now hereโs the AMAZING PART. My son and I dragged the generator out from storage in the corner of my garage, turned the fuel valve on and hit the electric start button EXPECTING absolutely nothing to happen. We figured the battery would be dead and the carburetor would be all gummed up with almost 3 year old gas. BUT AMAZINGLY the my Duromax generator STARTED IMMEDIATELY and RAN PERFECTLY for next ten minutes while we sat there absolutely amazed that it turned over and started at all. NOW REMEMBER, the battery had NOT been charged again after the initial 4 hour charge the first day I received it. The gas WAS treated with STA-BIL when I last filled the tank back in the spring of 2021, and it had set unattended and neglected FOR ALMOST 3 YEARS! So would I recommend you buy a new Duromax generator? YOU BET YOUR LAST DOLLAR I WOULD!!!! In fact I give my Duromax generator a 5 PLUS PLUS PLUS STAR RATING!!! I have absolutely no doubt that my little Duromax workhorse will be ready to come to the rescue anytime I need it. Now donโt be foolish like I was and let your generator sit around neglected. I promise you I wonโt wonโt be so foolish again either. Keep your battery charged up on a low amp battery tender, and change out the gas tank with fresh Sta-bil treated gas every year. By the way I just drained the tank on mine and refilled it with fresh treated gas AND RAN THE OLD GAS THROUGH MY 2003 Ford F150 without any issues or problems. Finally, you can buy a Duromax generator with confidence knowing that it will be there ready to help you through your next electrical power outage should you need it. Iโm sure glad I bought mine and you wonโt be disappointed should you decide to purchase a Duromax generator in any size. They are amazingly reliable workhorses!

Worked as advertised right out of the box excellent emergency generator
This genset performed flawlessly for our (7) day outage during Tropical Storm Isaias. Note: we ran the unit on propane only. I am giving it (5) stars in spite of the issues noted in other reviews: * the wheels are cheesy (but come on you are not towing it) * the handles could have better hardware connections (but they work) * the owners manual is not accurate on additional materials for example I did not receive the electrical plugs and no mention was made of the included propane hose which I was alerted to by another Amazon reviewer or I would of melted it as it is stuffed up inside. On the plus side: *manual gives clear set up and starting instructions *included battery was charged * the included oil funnel/hose worked great did not spill a drop *packing and shipping were excellent, unit was delivered in (2) days by an Amazon truck with no damage *unit is not unpleasantly loud Other details; our older house (recently purchased) needs an upgraded electrical service and when we can afford that we will also get a transfer switch and then purchase a whole house genset. However in the meantime due to the virus my wife has been hoarding food and every fridge and freezer is packed. By coincidence our now beloved utility Eversource was having some planned outages (hour or less) last month which reminded me what a crises we would have with a prolonged outage so luckily I pulled the trigger and the generator arrived here before the storm. Before I was alerted to the hidden propane connection hose I purchased my own and a 30 gallon propane tank in addition to the standard tanks I have from Home Depot for the grill. Our propane supplier was great and hooked up the unit to the larger tank with a snap connection we have for part of the house using the hose I purchased. Final notes; I did run the unit for about 12 hours straight one day (versus the periodic shutdowns I was doing) and a little oil was consumed. As I put at least 100 hours on the unit for the week I will be changing the oil this week to be ready for the next outage. Final final note...I worked in boating for 30 years so have run many generators however I think an inexperienced homeowner would be able to get this unit set up and running.

Good Dual Fuel Generator
As a Florida resident, I purchased this for the 2022 hurricane season, as strong storms were predicted and I had a need to prevent power loss. This was a great pick because the engine is versatile and can run on either unleaded gasoline, or liquid propane. This is especially great if there are shortages of traditional fuel in the area, which did happen this year as a result of Hurricane Ian here in FL. The generator has an electric start which makes cranking it very simple. Note that this is disconnected when shipped and you have to connect the wire to the battery, but thatโs not difficult. Also has a manual pull in case of battery failure, but that has not been an issue for me thus far. Switching between fuel types is very simple. I will say the instructions tell you to leave the choke in position to run propane, but if you do this, it wonโt start unless you cycle the choke to get it running and then leave in position once cranked. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the unit required assembly upon arrival, which is not entirely difficult, but take a bit of time and sweaty effort. Overall, arrived with no damage and cranked no problem.

A great generator
This is a fantastic generator. This is my second purchase of this model. The first one after over 3 years of use several times a week (We live off grid), is still working. The only thing that has failed is the 110v standard plug. The fix is easy, they sell a 220v plug that changes it to (2) 110v plugs. Other than that it is still solid. There are just 3 recommendation I have to make this last. First, buy a cover, run only propane (it is cheaper anyway) and will never gum up your internals and use synthetic oil only. Highly recommend generator and seller. Bought this generator for these crazy times we are living in. The idea that it was dual fuel is such a bonus. I bought two 100 lb. propane tanks which should allow me to run this generator for about 72 hours straight. Amazon offering a 5 pay deal for prime members is just an awesome promotion and sold me on my generator. Electric start and it comes with the battery so many other brands do not. It also comes with a wheel kit, I am going to upgrade the wheels later on due to them being a solid tire but they become flattened on the side that sit to the ground if let sit too long in same place. I have owned this genie now for over 6 months and it cranks instantly every time I fire it up tp keep it running strong. Don't forget to do the oil changes and break-in period.

EXCELLENT generator
This is the best generator I have owned. Being able to choose between gasoline and propane for operation is a major plus. Power went out on the entire grid where I was camping and even the gas stations were offline. I ran the generator off a 5 gallon propane tank that I use for cooking, and had power for the entire "blackout" duration. The electric start gets me up and going in no-time, and it powered my entire Jayco trailer's entire electric system including the AC, microwave and satellite TV. It was as if I was still connected to the shore power. With the wheel kit removed, it fits perfectly in the back of my pickup without interfering with the cab cover.

Pleased (And relieved)
After reading the negative reviews, i was a little apprehensive, but my experience with this unit has been nothing but positive. This generator was well packaged and delivered with care. Assembly (Wheels, Handles, Feet, Battery hookup, etc) was a snap. Two of the bolts on the temporary brace were tightened a bit too tight and I had to break out a bigger wrench, which was not really a problem. Small engines (Especially new ones before they are broken in) can be cranky, but if you are familiar with chain saws, weed whackers, etc., you won't have any problem. Mine seems to prefer half choke to start even after it is thoroughly warmed up Noise level is on par with a lawn mower, but I knew this before I bought it. I opted for an open frame unit because of the higher wattage per dollar and the ease of maintenance, so the noise is a small price to pay. We bought this unit to run two refrigerators and a large freezer in case of emergency and it does that job easily. A super heavy duty extension cord is required, but again, this is an expense you know (Or should know) before you buy. The option of using propane is (IMO) the only way to go. Propane is cleaner, produces less carbon monoxide, has a much, much longer shelf life and does not gum up your carburetor like gasoline will. Altogether, a very positive experience. I highly recommend DuroMax.

Great Generator for a Great Price!
Got my new Duroax XP5500 EH today. Perfect condition and easy to assemble,(handles & wheels). They included a basic tool kit, electrical cord plugs, a 12 volt charging wire with alligator clips & a Propane hose with regulator, not mentioned in the ad. So I was really pleased about that. Took me about 30-45 minutes to set up, including adding oil (20 ounces by the way). Instructions say "don't overfill",but no amount. I called Duromax tech support prior to receiving the unit regarding if the propane hose was included. It is .They also advised me to use Conventional 10-30 Oil. (not included) during the break in period. Then you can switch to Synthetic 10-30 if one chooses to do so.. The guy was super nice, professional and very helpful. A+ on that. I hooked up a propane tank, followed the instructions on the start up guide and it fired right up. It's easy to maneuver around and is relatively small in size for the wattage it puts out. That, I like. So far, so good. I would highly recommend this unit and the seller as they shipped right away and packaging was superb.
