The BEST Nail Biting Deterrent!
Nail biting was embarrassingly the worst habit I had - until I purchased and used this product! I had tried several products prior to this: the nail polishes & a variety of lotions/creams - none of which lasted. I love that this product applies and dries on clear. It also lasts all day with no re-application needed! The taste is extremely bitter, and for me, lingered on for hours after contact - but that’s the whole point of the product. If you are looking for a product to finally stop nail biting, look no further than here. I purchased 2 pens three months ago (1 for my work bag and 1 for my car), and haven’t needed to repurchase due to having success with stopping. My only regret is not taking a “before” photo, but please trust me when I say that this “after” photo is truly unrecognizable!

Bitterness that lingers. Amazing product!
I’ve tried bitter nail-biting deterrents my whole life, and none of them worked like this one. The first time I went to bite my nails, the taste stopped me instantly. It is extremely bitter. honestly awful, but in the best way! The flavor spreads across your mouth and lingers unless you rinse it out, which makes biting your nails impossible and memorable to not do it again. There’s no smell, no sticky feeling, and it feels natural on the nails. I also love the name “Strong Will.” Every time I use it, it reminds me that I do have control over my habits, especially with the right tools. This product works exactly as intended. Highly recommend.

Effective, but not long-lasting
Overall, this is a good product, but having used more traditional nail-polish-type deterrants in the past, I found this to be less effective. I'm giving it four stars due to the application being very convenient and different, but the result was that I ended up biting my nails again more often, as I will explain. I am a lifelong heavy nail biter, and despite using deterrants for 2 years and trying very hard to curb the habit, it's still a challenge. For the last 2 years I used Mavala stop nail polish, which has an intensely bitter taste and is basically a clear bottle of nail polish with bitter chemical added. As long as I keep this nail polish on, I can't bite my nails. Although the polish is water resistant, it wears off in about 2-3 days and by the end of the second day, I may find myself putting my fingers in my mouth some and attempting to bite my nails despite remnants of the bitter polish still being there. This is where these deterrants all hit a snag for me. If I'm not diligent about keeping it on my nails, I go back to biting. Which brings me to the Nail Quail. I bought it to try something different. This product has a similar strong bitter taste, and the applicator is so much more convenient than the nail polish bottle. Initially I was extremely happy with the product because of how much more quickly I could apply it to my nails, and it dries fast too as it is water-based. However, also because it is water-based, I found that within a single day it has already washed almost completely off of my hands (I wash my hands regularly throughout the day, especially when I'm working). To use this effectively, I need to reapply it multiple times each day, instead of ~3 times each week. That doesn't mean it's totally ineffective, but for my case it isn't perfect either. The shape of the product is like a marker, and I think it's meant to be slipped into a pocket or purse to carry around and reapply when out and about. I haven't done this, but I suppose I'll need to start. If I could get a formula of this that was more water resistant with the same applicator tip, I think it would be just about perfect.

Effective but strong!!
I've been a biter since I was a kid... nails, cuticles, the finger flesh itself --- I'm in my 40s now and I swear by this stuff. I've bought it 4 or 5 times now. Admittedly, I'm not consistent in my application of it so one pen lasts me at least 4 months. Also, it hasn't broken the habit in that I still bite my fingers without it, but not as much. I apply quite a lot at one time. I click about 3-4 times until I see the liquid visibly on the brush tip and apply it to the end of each finger. I only have to apply it every 2-3 days as I can taste it after washing hands several times, taking a shower, washing dishes. It does dry out my fingers a bit, but I just add cuticle cream or a tiny bit of hand lotion to combat that. I'd say the only downside for me is that any finger foods can end up tasting like it if you're not careful and if you tend to lick sauce or something off your fingers, don't!

Effective but transfers to everything, wouldn’t recommend
The pen itself is good quality, works well. The product goes on nicely & it’s easy to use. This is for my 10yo daughter, I bought this bc the one we usually used was out of stock. The major con & a reason I will be returning - it gets EVERYWHERE & ON EVERYTHING. I don’t even know how. Even once it dries it transfers to anything you touch, food, drinks, it then gets in your mouth, on your lips, etc etc. If we hadn’t already used a really good nail biting polish (doesn’t transfer at all) I maybe wouldn’t be returning this & assume this is just how it is. But it’s not, there are actual clear nail polishes for nail biting that don’t do this at all. For this reason, I would not recommend.

Its gross, or is it?
This works unless you're an insane person like me and sacrifice your taste buds to the awful bitter taste so you can bite that nail.

Inveterate biter who says, "This is best solution in 50 years!"
Best product I have used in 50 years of continuous gnawing at my nails. Mavala did not help at all and it is a similar product, so rather hard to explain why this works so much better when the taste is in that same category of "nasty and bitter" ...but it does. Like one other reviewer explained: if you get it in your mouth, the offensive taste comes on slowly but it's strong and lingers. You have to go and brush your teeth. I think the physical delivery mechanism, the pen, provides an edge. You brush the stuff on and it's easy to pick up the pen and repeat the process. You can apply it liberally, it's invisible, and it's easy. I have one of these on my desk. One in my purse. One upstairs in my bedroom. I think of it as an Epi Pen for my nails -- ie, don't leave home without it. I haven't bitten my nails in a couple of weeks. I can see white fingernail at the tips! I am not aiming for long and luxurious. Just trying to avoid the "clearly this women is a nervous wreck" look. And so far, it works. It's interesting because once you stop biting for awhile...you just kind of stop altogether. It helps you manage and break the compulsion on the front end and then the compulsion dies down. I should add that I do have fingernail polish on and am painting the product over the polish, to no detriment to the manicure. And yes, it washes off easily at mealtime, and yes, you will need to take it off if you are doing finger food and/or prepping a meal (you don't want your loved ones to pay for your neurotic behavior......). Thank you to Igor and Adrian, the creators of the product (can see them on their web page). Love it when young people bring a new solution to an old problem and in a natural and healthy way. Hope you make a good living at selling these things. Don't know how long this product has been around but all I can say is don't cave when Target and the big retailers come knocking. Keep it just as it is.

It works. Just don’t try it yourself lol
My daughter is eight years old and she and I are working on getting her to stop sucking her thumb and it is a serious challenge but as long as we remember to put this on before bed or nap, it works wonders. Just be weary of getting it on anything because if you touch it later after the formula has dripped on it or anything you’ll taste it too. It’s yucky. It dripped on my hair clip and I put my hair clip in my mouth to pull my hair up and I was dying for at least an hour. I hate that she needs it but a parent gotta do what a parent gotta do.
