Good, comfortable beginners skate
I'm a fairly new skater but I wanted my own skates so I can make sure I had good-fitting, non-dull skates when I do go rather than depending on luck of the draw with rental skates. These were inexpensive, but they seem to work quite well for me. I've found that I can leave the laces in the toe area a bit loose (because it's a little tight on me down there) and then tighten up the ankles and top well and they stay quite firmly in place so I can move on the ice much more easily than I could in rental skates.Since I'm no pro, I have no idea how these compare to the more expensive skates. I don't do any jumps or spins or anything, just skate around (mostly forwards). But I have fun doing it.

First Ice Skates
I quad roller skate a bunch. I just got these for something different to do.Very sturdy boots as others have said. I had ankle surgery, so the strength is important to me! Look very nice, although the tongue is a bit weird and lays funny. It is a bit too big! I think when I put my orthotic in, it'll lay against the top of my foot better. Looks good. Skates good. Feels good. For the price, they are great!SIZING: I wear a 10 work boot and ordered these in 9. I still have room for an orthotic or 2 pairs of socks, although not needed, IMO. Bottom line is to order 1 size smaller...UPDATE: It has been a year and ice skating only occasionally, these are still like new. I have no complains and am very happy with not spending more. One thing you need to know is that typically, new skates NEED to be "cut" (sharpened). The guy at the rink did it for me for free in about 10 minutes while chatting. Also, he told me even though these are very inexpensive, they are the most common beginner skate purchased and he didn't have anything bad to say about them, even though he wore at least $300 skates. Also, I did get used to the tongue rather quickly. I think it actually helped being oversized so that it holds better and doesn't shift to the side, which would guarantee a relace break and might be embarrassing...I'm very happy with this purchase for first time skates and will probably have these for 10 years.

Much Better than Rentals
These are the first pair of skates I've owned. I've only used them for a few hours, but so far they're much better than the rentals I was using before. I had them sharpened after a couple of hours, but I can't really tell if it made a difference. They seem to be holding up well, and they're adequately comfortable - not very comfortable, but good enough. I got my regular shoe size, and they fit well when I wear two pairs of socks (which I do anyways to keep warm).Recommended.

Fine for recreational skating, adequate quality. You get what you pay for.
When it comes to figure skates, you get what you pay for. I needed a pair of basic skates while waiting on a pair more expensive figure skates, and this was one of the cheapest types available on Amazon, so I did not have particularly high expectations. That being said, the skates are actually decent for their price. Before I start, a note: If you're seriously considering getting into figure skating (i.e. learning jumps and spins, going beyond basic forward and backwards skating), then it would be best to visit a pro shop or some place where the boots can be custom fitted and blades attached separately. High quality leather skates WILL be expensive, but are much sturdier and will last much longer (years, potentially), and you are much less likely to injure yourself from broken skates.Pros: The sole of the boot is rather solid and very waterproof. (Surprisingly, it is strong enough to withstand basic jumps and spins, something that other recreational skates cannot do, usually because they have rubber soles, which these do not have.) The ankle area of the boot is also quite stiff relative to its thinness, and the blades work just fine.Cons: Little ankle support. Although stiff when I first received the skates, the ankle area quickly began to crease after only a few hours on the ice. I saw a less experienced skater with the same skate who did not lace his boots tightly enough, which caused a massive crease in the lining that caused the boot to rip open after a few days (make sure you tie your laces a tight as possible, people!). However, it's worth noting that figure skates of this price are not really made to have good ankle support. Many other reviewers mentioned that the laces tore through the material easily, although I personally did not experience this problem.Side notes: As with most other pre-assembled recreational skates, the factory sharpening is not that great and you will probably need to get these skates sharpened. Conclusion: These skates are fine for anybody who is a recreational skater (e.g. basic forward and backward skating) and will not need to perform fancy tricks on the ice. Ankle support is meh, boots crease easily. The boots are of adequate quality, but if you skate only once in a while and take good care of these skates, they could potentially last for a while (a while for these skates=half a year).

Should have listened to the review
Just....no. Don't buy these.I though they were a really great deal for my first set of ice skates, rather than using the hard plastic ones at my local rink. Excited when I got them, laced them up and took them to get sharped and get blade guards (which the skates did not come with, no biggie).Got them on for the first time, laced them up, and as I was doing so, pulled the eye rings right out. No...not ripped out. They tore the "leather" and came out out with chunks. Not worth it.Got my return authorization from Amazon approximately 7 hours after receiving the skates, 30 hours after buying them online. Amazon customer service and refund policy is amazing, as well as shipping (got here in 24 hours, Amazon is refunding the shipping as well). Product is crappy.

They'll do the job!
As soon as opened the box I noticed how "cheap" they look and feel. I did do a through inspection to make sure the will hold up on the ice. I removed them from the box to lace them up and try for fit. As I pulled on the laces to tighten, the eyelet lace hoop ripped out of the "cheap" vinyl and now I'm left not being able to tighten the lace in the middle. All aside I did get them on ice and they seem to do well. For the winter season as a casual skater they do the trick. I guess I can't really expect much better quality for the price!I'm sad the lace holes broken but am trying to work around that. Pretty comfy but do nothing for your feet in the cold. (I skate outdoors) And I find the vinyl is a bit stiff when it's colder out but will hopefully feel better with wear and tear.

Nice wide fit!
I normally wear a size 11/12 womens shoe.... but figure skates were always too narrow. These fit great and I can now go skating with my kiddo in moderate comfort. The price was amazing, and the quality will suffice for the amount they'll be used (casual weekend skating)

skates
Skates served their purpose. They arrived on time and in good condition. Both my husband and I can use them, to take the little one out on the ice to learn. Blade guards were not very durable and broke within first day of use.

Boot is comfortable but blade is real low quality
Boot is comfortable but blade is real low quality. Had it sharpened every possible depth. Just keeps skidding on cross-overs. Compared to Jackson's blade is thin and not true (straight).

UNSAFE
For the first 10 mins to break in they where fine, but when I used the the second time I almost broke my ankle when the boot ripped from the blade, I sold have knew better from the price, but I well. I guess it was the kind of skate where you get 1 min of skate time per a dollar.
