Buy It Right "Meow"
This stuff works! I was soooooo skeptical. I read the reviews on dozens of deterrent sprays. I had used a few different sprays in the past, but I had never found one that worked. Typically I would just use the double sided anti-scratch tape and call it good. However, I recently purchased an expensive, velvet accent chair for my formal living room that I knew would take more than a roll of tape to protect. So I turned to the sprays as a solution(no pun intended lol). Like I said, I had my doubts. My biggest fear was that the spray would stain or ruin the upholstery. I tested a small spot on the back and there was no residue or stain left behind. I also worried that the smell would not only deter the cats but it might deter humans as well. lol I was relieved to find that it didn't have a chemical smell to it and the smell wasn't overpowering. It smells kind of like a citronella candle. It's not my go-to scent but not horrible either. The best part about this product is that my cats HATE it! I sprayed it on the chair and immediately they both walked a wide berth around the chair. They didn't even want me to touch them because the scent of the spray was still on my hands. The spray worked so well, I sprayed a few other pieces of furniture and even a table runner(because I know that when I am not looking those buggers jump on my table). I've only had the spray for a couple of days but haven't seen the cats go near my chair once. It is as if the chair doesn't exist now. I can't tell you how relieved I am. If you are on the fence about this product, take a chance and purchase it. I am SO glad that I did!

Spray bottle doesn't work.
Tried to spray on my furniture; little droplets came out, but nothing like I expected, and got far more on my hands, and from my hands dripping onto the floor. The little droplets were nothing like usually comes out as an aerosol. I'm not sure if it's related, but the bottle is caved in, and no amount of squeezing can pop the bottle to be round again. I considered trying to find a better aerosol bottle to use, but can't locate one to try. A waste of money in my opinion.

Does work... use lightly...
I bought this spray and another spray, hoping one would work. THIS spray "claw withdraw" does actually make my kitten stop scratching an area. It does not deter him from being in the area, but stops scratching and biting and I am surprised with how well it works. For example, I have a couch cover that dangles in a few areas. He would attack those areas wildly. After spraying a bit right on the dangling edge, he still runs by and jumps up onto the couch without bother, but doesn't attack the edge. Also worked for the corner of a chair he decided was a perfect scratch area. A light spray and he stopped. I only re-apply for a few days in a row... then only if he starts to scratch up that area again, but that hasn't happened yet. It also worked great when he first tried to chew a cord... a few spritzes and he left it alone and hasn't tried to chew even when walking right over the cord now. Note... it is a *very strong* scent when you first spray it. Go light and don't try to soak an area or you may have to stay away yourself for a day. I am quite impressed with how little it really takes to be effective. Why did I only give 4 stars? Because the bottle tends to seep onto my hand a little at the spout and I wish it had an adjustable nozzle since sometimes I need more of a drip than a wide-angle over-spray. I will need to get a better bottle to put it into for best use. THE OTHER spray *attracted* my kitten! He comes running when he smells it and sniffs the area with great interest. Not good. Stick with this one.

Product works, but the bottle and sprayer don't...
Product was fine. Cat generally avoids scratching. However, I have ordered 4 bottles. All have been dented (as if damaged) , appear to not be completely filled to a "reasonable" level, and the sprayers on every bottle did not work at an acceptable standard. I had to transfer the product to a different bottle with a fully functioning sprayer..

Pleasantly surprised - it works!
I purchased this expecting that it wouldn't work, but for the price I figured it was worth a shot. I'm glad I gave it a chance because it definitely works. I bought a couch and a loveseat shortly before adopting two kittens and very early on I discovered that my furniture was likely to be ruined. For the first year and a half, I had couch covers on. I covered the remaining uncovered parts with hard plastic protectors with adhesive on the back side. This protected my furniture but it was pretty ugly. Not only that but the one or two places I wasn't able to fully cover would eventually get discovered by the cats and there would be pulled threads. And every time I decided to try removing the cover, within minutes one of them would start digging their claws into the exposed fabric. So I ordered this spray for when I eventually removed the covers. When it first arrived, I sprayed some onto a paper towel and let the cats smell it. They very clearly disliked the smell, initially curious about it and then running away at the sight of the towel. I was concerned that the spray would be too effective and that they wouldn't even go in the room once I sprayed the furniture! Fortunately, though they disliked the smell, they grew used to it enough that they could be around the furniture when it was being sprayed. On the first day, I noticed them still somewhat pawing the couch, then shaking their paws once they sniffed them. I followed the instructions and sprayed several times a day for the first week. Within a couple days they had no interest in scratching the areas I sprayed but I saw a few loose threads in other locations. Eventually I started spraying the whole couch and now they don't scratch them at all anymore. I'm going on week two with nearly new looking couches (minus a few spots they got to before I started using the spray). I spray once a day or every other day now. I don't know what will happen if I completely discontinue use, but the smell is pleasant - kind of herbal, kind of citrus. I swear I can smell lemongrass. This stuff works on my cats! Saved my furniture for at least a few more years...

Well, it hasn't 100% stopped the scratching but it has massively helped. We make sure that our cat sees us spray. We keep it nearby and if she starts scratching furniture we jump up and spray this on the sofa where she is scratching (never at the cat and always away from her eyes/mouth). It feels a bit like we're marking our territory and saying "no, this is ours, not yours!". She hates it and now runs away just at the sight of the bottle and then kind of huffs around grumpily glaring at us... But scratches about 90% less than she did before. She seems to be learning which things she can scratch (she now has 3x scratch posts!) and the things she can't scratch. We always reward her when she uses her scratch post (we leave treats at the top of it) and spray this when she uses the sofa. Personally I don't mind the citrus odour. It smells like citrus cleaning products. It doesn't smell after a few hours.

the plastic bottle wasn't even sealed and spilled during air cargo transit.

Strong lemon smell. Should keep cats from scratching the walls and furniture. Mine as stopped scratching the walls.

Unfortunately this product did not work to stop my cat from scratching. In fact, where I sprayed it, she reacted like she does to catnip; it attracted her and made the scratching worse. This product also has a VERY strong smell. However, on the positive side, it was easy to remove the product from the carpet where I sprayed it, with over the counter spray carpet cleaner. Before buying this product, I read some reviews that said it does not work for all cats, so I was warned before I bought it but decided to take a chance anyway.

Works well but you do need to be consistent with spraying the same spot over and over again so the cat learns not to scratch that spot.
