How do the lights work? do they charge with usb? is the brightness adjustable?

There is a USB-C connection on the bottom and charges the internal rechargeable battery. On the middle bottom of the center mirror, there is a transparent “button” that activates upon touch. To dim or maximize the brightness of the light, you need to press and hold the button. The lights are on the left and right sides of the center mirror. They could be brighter, but using this in a lit room helps.

How good is it at sslf hair cutting?

I have been cutting my own shoulder length hair since the pandemic started. This mirror has made it much easier to cut it, particularly the back. I do think, however, that it is easier for me because my hair is wavy and all one length (not layered). So, if the back isn't exactly even, you can't tell because I curl it under with my round brush. I can't say anything about curly hair because I have never cut it, but I think pin straight hair would be much more difficult because it is so easy to tell if it isn't exactly straight. Good luck.
