What is the proper seed medium? There are no specific instructions in the box. Using the bag of potting mix from my hardware store results in fragile

Search for Eliot Coleman's seed block soil recipe. He is the clever farmer who came up with the seed blocking idea. There are lots of variations on his basic soil recipe. I use about half peat moss, half compost, with some perlite, and a sprinkling of lime, phosphorous, and greensand and slowly add water and mix it all together until it jiggles a little. You can ball it up in your hand and drop it - if it largely stays together its good. Seed block mix needs to have a lot more water in it than a conventional potting mix

How do you sharpen the tip?

I believe it would sharpen the way you would a normal knife except the curve is in reverse. But I’ve never sharpened one of these particular knives.
