How difficult is this project?

Illustrated directions are very clear but must be carefully follows. The project requires delicate skill and patients to carefully apply pressure in the correct spots to press the parts and sub assemblies together to completion, without breaking. Some moving parts require delicate sanding and waxing (supplies included) to ensure smooth movement with meshing adjacent parts. Age recommendation, 14 yrs to adult is appropriate.

I accidentally broke a piece during assembly and cannot proceed any further without it; is there a way to request a replacement piece?

They say you can. I have never tried to request a broken piece replacement. Good wood glue and experience fixes the problem most of the time.
