Fast Line Loading and Smooth Operation
This genuine Speed Feed 400 head is a perfect fit for my SRM trimmer and works exactly as advertised. Installation was quick and easy, and it was ready to use in just a few minutes. The best feature is how fast and simple it is to load new trimmer line. I can reload in under a minute without having to take the head apart, which saves a lot of time during yard work. Once loaded, the line feeds smoothly and evenly with no jams or tangles. The build quality feels solid, and after multiple uses it still operates like new. It handles heavy grass and weeds with no problem and keeps the trimmer running efficiently. One thing to note is that it did not come with the adapter parts needed to fit other brands, so if you plan to use it with a non-SRM trimmer, you may need to buy additional hardware. For SRM trimmer owners, it is a great upgrade, but anyone using a different brand should check compatibility before purchasing.

Why did I wait so long??
Canโt believe Iโve been putting up with an 8-yr old head that stopped bumping years ago. I ordered this OEM part (Echo Speed Feed 400 replacement head) for my Echo SRM 225 string trimmer and it screwed in and I was trimming in under 5 minutes. And Iโm not mechanically handy at all There are no instructions or adapters in this kit so when I opened the packageโWHICH WAS DELIVERED THE SAME DAY I ORDERED ITโ I had a twinge of regret for ordering it around midnight and being too lazy to go out to the garage to double check what specific Echo model I have. This is not one of the universal heads with a variety of adapters, this one is made by echo to fit echo trimmers. I got a little anxiety realizing that my trimmer needed to be one of the models this head fit, and there wouldnโt be any adjusting with adapters So I grabbed the replacement head and took it to the garage and immediately saw that I was in luck as the trimmer hanging vertically displayed the model # prominently: SRM 225 I watched 5 seconds of a YouTube video and saw that the original head should screw off. Probably should have watched 3 sec more because 1. First u need to insert a small screwdriver into a slot which rotates around the housing and then spin it until it catchesโฆ2. NOW the shaft is held still and the head can be screwed off in *counterclockwise fashion This took me about 3 min to figure out on my own and was the most difficult step. Of course the video went over this if I had just hung in there for a bit longer Once the old head was off I realized that the shaft and drive gear thingy and all parts of the housing had hundreds of threads of the black plastic landscaping fabric that I put under my mulch to keep weeds from growing root networks I knew those strings of plastic often wrapped around the head while trimming but I thought I was stripping them off each time. Nope, I was just removing only the most obvious threads that hung outside the head. The inside was packed tightly with chaotic spools of them. Those threads undoubtedly contributedt to the breakdown and warping of the original head and probably were causing the string windings to get crammed and stick together preventing the ends from being lengthened unless i took the head cap all the way off and unwound them Pulling them out took a minute or two, and I cursed my laziness again and then screwed on the new head, depressed the bumper and released some string and fired that hot beyatch up and it was really just that easy! Echo made a great trimmer in the SRM 225 and Iโm quite used to the length, balance, and head angle on the shaft so hopefully the motor will last another few years. With trimmers like these selling for well over $200 the authentic Echo Speed Feed 400 is a tremendous value proposition. Itโs $10 more expensive than the universal replacements made by other brands but the shipping time was crazy fast and it was a breeze to install. I would recommend it unreservedly

Fits my 1999 ECHO model SRM-1501
it works as it should I have used it about 3 times this year to trim around my yard and edge my sidewalks. the product seems well built to a point. the plastic is a bit softer than it needs to be for the price I would expect better, harder plastic to be used. I have bumped it a few times and it is already showing wear and it's not that thick like the original equipment. My ECHO weed eater was new back in 1999 and I have replaced some parts as it has been a great product throughout the years. Unfortunately, this is the cheapest most expensive part I have replaced. I do however believe I will continue to order my parts from an online ECHO dealer as I have always done in the past. The string is .0845 not a .095". I used a .105" with the original feed head that was replaced due to the failure to feed properly. If you do chois to order this part, do keep in mind that replacement heads will be needed at some point depending on the usage. Rocks, Concrete, and other harder surfaces will wear it out a lot quicker than a grassy area. Other than the thin plastic it is built well and it does come with .085" string. Overall I would recommend this part as a replacement.

SPRING NOT INSTALLED
DID NOT COME WITH THE SPRING INSTALLED!! Unit installed easily. Tried it out and noted line would run out and get cut off randomly. Did not think much about it as only used it briefly until I used it to edge the driveways which is when I noticed that anytime the head made contact with the ground, line would come out and be cut off...didn't take long before I needed to replace the line. It was then I noted that I could not line the "holes" up. I took it apart and the spring was missing!!! So, I went to Home Depot and bought one for $4 more with a spring!! All is not lost as I will keep the parts and use it when this one is worn out.

Works for my Echo trimmer
It does the job that it is supposed to do. But only for an Echo weed trimmer. The equivalent store bought unit is identical to this unit, and it includes adapters for other trimmer manufacturers at a higher price. Since I only needed it for my Echo trimmer, I purchased it at a discount price compared to the packaged store version with adapters. Do your homework before buying such a unit and make sure you know if you need adapters before you purchase any like item, sight unseen. I would buy from this seller again. Thanks.
