Does anyone know the specific wire gauge? i'm looking for an item like this with 24awg wires

24 gauge is probably about right for the battery connection wires. Remember, these are stranded wires, so they will take up slightly more space than a solid 24 gauge wire.

This 4 aa battery holder is in series, and the output of the 4 aa battery holder with snap connector is 6 Volt.

Will energy still be delivered to the output wires if i only put 3 batteries in the holder? Will it still work with only 3 batteries in it?

The reason for 4 batteries is the strength of the power being delivered. If one leaves out a battery, there will be no complete circuit for the power to be delivered to anything. The design calls for 4 batteries, to deliver the correct amount of power; the holder for the batteries was not designed to hold 3 batteries. With just 3 batteries, 3 batteries where 4 are called for, has the same effect as disconnecting one of the leads of your car battery.

How easy is it to connect the end of the wires to the component in the toilet tank? The battery connectors broke which is why i need to replace.

We used ours to replace the battery holder on an old Battleship game we had. We left the batteries in the old one and it got corroded over the years. Sorry, we couldn't be of more help.
