If you're a gamer or just genuinely care about the quality of your sound, this should be your top pick. When I first tried this headset, I honestly was disappointed because it was the first time I didn't immediately love a product for my setup. I thought it sounded so different and I couldn't tell if that was a good thing or not. I thought I was going to return it, but I decided to try it for a bit longer. Not long after that, I realized, I hear more details with this headset than anything else I've ever tried. In games, music, and tv/movies I could hear each layer of sound flawlessly. I had a hard time trying to understand how it would sound based on how other people described it so I want to try my best here... I bought both the Closed back and the Open back options so I will compare them both here. Closed: The bass is very punchy but not muddy at all. The bass is strong and manages to deliver a powerful sound that truly immerses you in intense moments. The mids are slightly emphasized and make for vocals to be very clear and beautifully brought to life. The highs are noticeably bumped up(because these are closed back and made with a bias towards gaming, which benefits from boosted highs). However, I really appreciated the emphasized highs. It felt as if it was the perfect amount needed to complete the sound signature of this headset. Without the highs as they are, the headset might've been too bass-heavy and sounded as if it was lacking in some situations. Overall, an extremely pleasant and full sound that is enjoyable for all types of uses. Open: To my surprise, the bass was extremely similar, if not identical to the closed-back pair. The mids are noticeably flatter, in order to preserve the original sound signature of whatever content is being consumed. This doesn't make it sound bad or worse by any means but it's an example of the differences in what type of sound these will provide compared to the closed-back. The highs are also noticeably flatter, even more than the mids, but again this is not a bad thing. It makes for the sound signature of the headset to be what everyone says is "natural", meaning it doesn't do much extra apart from how the sound was intended to be heard when it was made. Whether it be gaming, music, or movies/tv, this sound signature fully captures the intended sound for each and everything you listen to, meaning very little is added to boost or emphasize whatever vision the sound designers/engineers had for their creations. I said in for the closed back that the highs felt appropriate and that it would have felt lacking without them, but I believe these don't sound lacking despite having similar bass because the mids are also toned down. Finally the open-back design. They feel extremely lightweight, almost like you're not even wearing a headset, and allow for a good amount of sound to be heard from your environment. I found that in competitive games, listening in for quiet footsteps was more challenging because it wasn't as closed off as the closed-back. However, with music and tv/movies this wasn't an issue. IMPORTANT: When I was using both of these, I felt as if the volume on both of them was very low. I was really confused as to why and was even jokingly saying to my friends, "I refuse to believe this is the epitome of EPOS audio". It seemed unbelievable to me that something that had such good sound would top out at such a low volume which was about only 75% of my previous headset, the Logitech G PRO X Wireless. I spent weeks trying to figure it out and eventually I stumbled upon a Reddit thread that fixed everything. To EVERYONE who uses Onboard sound straight from your motherboard, if you have Realtek audio drivers, go to your Windows Search bar and type in "Realtek Audio Console". Open it and in the audio tab, you should see an option called "Amplify Level". This option is a limiter for your audio and is what was causing BOTH of my headsets to sound quiet. I highly recommend setting it to at least the "Powerful" setting as this is a very decent upgrade in volume over "Performance". However, if you want the absolute maximum volume output available, go with "Extreme" but PLEASE be careful with your volume settings in any app or game you use, as this setting does really get EXTREMELY loud. Conclusion: To be completely honest, if I had only ever gotten one of these without ever trying the other, I would be completely satisfied with either one in terms of sound. Both the Closed-Back AND Open-Back pair OBLITERATE my G PRO X Wireless in terms of sound quality and comfort. For a purely gaming experience, I do believe the closed-back is the better choice, because of how powerful and rich the audio experience is. Because it's closed-back, very little sound from your environment will interrupt your listening experiences, which for gaming, especially competitive games is extremely beneficial. The open-back provides a very satisfyingly "natural" sound to everything you will listen to. However, the open-back nature of the headset does mean that some external sounds might overwhelm very quiet sounds like footsteps. If you have enough money to buy both of them, try directly comparing them to each other as I did. I would recommend doing so in order for you to see for yourself which you like and prefer more. But for those of you who can only choose one, I would definitely recommend the closed-back.

I bought these used for 60$ used completely worth it because I’ll really only be using with the steam deck on flights where closed back is needed. I have the open back ones already and much prefer the sound stage on those. If you want zero outside noise and only hear the game. The closed back hands down are the ones for you. Less sound bleed on the closed back, so if you are gaming in a room while someone is watching a movie these don’t bleed sound as much as the open back. Open back: wide sound stage less bass Closed back: narrow soundstage more bass. These things sound identical to my closed back GSP but way more comfortable. The bass is noticeably crisper and less muddy, still has that “scoop” sound profile that all sennheiser/epos closed back headsets have. Mine had no rattling. Been trying a plethora of DAC’s and the GSX1000 adds the icing on the sound profile like I expected too. But other dacs such as the x4 do a good job as well. Little fat down low but the clarity is still there. They do sound great plugged into standard jack ports on my pc. You will experience bad sound quality if your device can’t drive these headphones. 280ohm impedance so keep that in mind when buying. Among the game series, GSP series, and the h6 series. These are the most comfortable of the 3. I like the open back better, the gsx dac really bumps the bass and makes the soundstage wide. Hearing distant skirmishes and artillery really feel distant with the open. You get a similar experience with the closed back but the difference is enough for me to chose the open back as my preferred headset.

So Sound Quality is phenomenal, but to get the best sound, you have to manually go into sound settings and set it to 192K, 32-Bit. Only works in Stereo mode, but honestly it's such great quality sound that I keep mistaking it for surround sound. The detachable mic and mic cover are genius, and it's comfortable to wear for hours. Nice.

UPDATE 2-3 WEEKS LATER These headphones are amazing, probably even better than I originally thought. The no distortion at max volume thing is putting these actually ahead of the *ahem* other headphones I mention below. Comfort level is INSANE. I wear these all night and forget I'm not listening to my home theater. And I've got Emotiva T1+'s driving my front soundstage, so that's saying something. I did order the GSX 1200 (I got the 1200 opposed to the 1000 because it was the same price renewed), so I will try to update more when that arrives. Bass response is wicked. Wicked. Punchy clear piano notes, heavy guitar riffs, clear solos and thumping melodies for a motherboard amp. Gaming is fun and exciting. ORIGINAL REVIEW: i enabled music equalizer in Dolby Access app along with Dolby Atmos spacial audio, and am currently testing music. these are NOT primarily for music, but it’s nice to know they are very clear, dynamic, and responsive. they PROBABLY require an external sound card. BUT , they are leagues above what i had before for gaming headset, the “cheap” $60 Corsair HS60 comfort level? off the charts bass response is not in your face. its more warm and laid back my Sony h.ear on 2 WH-H900N will be my main music listeners.. they arent as comfy as this headset, the EPOS are WAY more comfortable, and in terms of sound quality, the SONYs are superior, especially in the low end realm, but this is fair since -- they are also in the $300 price bracket ?? where the EPOS H6PRO are $180 so far the EPOS with Dolby Access set to MUSIC: WARM EQ PRESET, they’ve handled Sia, Alice in Chains, and some Eminem, and everything has been fairly enjoyable Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” is wonderous and dreamy.. rhythmic and emphatic highs are bright, expansive, roll off nicely, warm, and wondery mids are just there. you don't want them not there, and you don't want too much. lots of punchy and grindy effects play fantastically. low end: needs EQ, but, with the EQ they really do sound pretty good.. there's no distortion that's for sure. not muddy. pretty clear. i don't know what to say. it's not in your face, but it's there. all in all, they PASS the music test. they're about 90-95% of my Sony's in total sound quality, for a good 65% of the price. i am too tired to try gaming right now, or the headset, but i know it works. Durable and drop resistant while having accurate sounds that aren’t bass heavy like other “gamer headsets”. The mic is detachable and mutes when rotated. The microphone meets expectations, a dedicated mic will always sound better though. The volume control works far better than other headsets because it’s on the headset, not the wire so you won’t be guessing which way to turn it. It has a detachable and replaceable cable.

I have tried THREE versions of this headset, because of how badly I wanted to make them work. The PROs: - Excellent, and I mean, EXCELLENT sound quality: No headset has been able to rival (for me). The sound is just beautiful and I'm not a big sound nerd AT ALL. - Comfortable: The headset has the perfect amount of padding on the top band and the ear cups fit fantastic. It is nice and adjustable for a variety of head sizes. The cups do not hurt after long hours of use. - Lightweight: the headset rests nice on your head and doesn't feel bulky or heavy. This again helps with long hours of use! - Settings: there are many settings to change the sound as you like. - Quality mic: you can whisper at just about your lowest you can and your friends will hear you, but it still blocks out ambient noises in the room. LOVE the mic quality and the sound quality especially. The CON: - Connectivity: this is where I just couldn't get past. I have tried THREE of these headsets, hoping that I just kept getting a "lemon" until I finally gave up. The headset continuously disconnects and it seems to be connected to the mic somehow. If I get disconnected, I have to detach and reattach my mic and suddenly it seems to work. I am not sure if this would be solved if you had a desktop/computer mic and never used the mic on the headset. I know I had the boom mic flipped up during times of disconnection and STILL had to detach and reattach, so I don't believe using a desktop/computer mic would solve this issue. A lot of other people have also experienced this and I hope EPOS is able to resolve it. I ended up with a set of Steelseries Arctis 9 Wireless. I really didn't want them to work, but they were the headset that I have been looking for for so long (good sound, connectivity, etc) - just in case I can save someone from the long months of research and trial and error I had with various headsets. I really hope EPOS can fix this issue one day or recreate this headset without the magnetic attachment of the mic. I wonder if this is the reason for the disconnectivity issues.

I am very grateful to EPOS/Sennheiser, for these headsets and for their work! I'm not sure if I'll find something better in the future, and just recently I found out that EPOS is moving away from the gaming direction. This prompted me to take 5 more pairs of this headsets, 4 of which are refurbished. Hopefully, in 5-10 years, they will be able to come back to the gaming direction with a good pair of headsets and a microphone. I also found interesting analogues that I would consider if I didn't have the opportunity to purchase the H6PRO: - ATH-M50xSTS - DT 797 PV As for the headsets themselves, they are amazing: a. Good sound quality, with a very wide sound stage; I find the sound quality not melodic, but nevertheless, it's nice to listen to music. For listening to music or just relaxing, I would still prefer HD 569. They have a smaller sound stage, but the high frequencies are brighter; and the low frequencies are more muted and pleasant. b. High-quality microphone; c. High build quality, with good body materials and good box filling. The main problems that you can find: 1. The microphone is not detailed. In this case, consider buying a separate sound card, or just buy a new motherboard with a good sound card. Also note that with a regular sound card, you may have a higher noise threshold that you will hear on the recording with you/your speech. 2. The microphone is too detailed. It catches small features of your speech, and also perfectly records background sounds. Please note that these headsets do not have a separate sound card, so your sound card and/or the software that will enable noise cancellation must be responsible for noise reduction. I use these headsets on MacBook Air for work, and prefer turning on Voice Isolation. If you want, you can also consider buying wind muffs.

I'm a fan of the EPOs H6Pro, it's not going to impress hardcore audiophiles but its good enough for the average guy. I would suggest getting cooling gel earpads if you intend to use it for long sessions but otherwise they're solid a solid headset. Volume comes in nice and the mic is good.

Got these for my gf and I have to say the positional audio for footsteps and such for Fortnite is amazing also really good for audio in the finals would recommend for anyone looking for a cozy pair that has nice sound for both games and music

audio quality is very very good its easy to drive so if you have a somewhat decent motherboard you wont need anything except the inbuilt 3.5 mm jacks. comfort is amazing i don't think ive ever had such comfortable headphones. i have a fairly big head and big ears and they fit very very well the earcups are kind of genius cloth on the skin pleather on the outside its very comfortable. only caviat to comfort is the headband i have a very elongated head front to back (long oval motorcycle helmet headshape) this problem will more than likely be unique to me but the actual contact patch is small so for the first couple days after hours(4-7) of use it became uncomfortable however after a week or so the foam softened up and the discomfort completely dissipated now they are the most comfortable headphones ive ever worn. if you have a normal headshape unlike me i doubt you will even notice it. the volume knob on the outside is annoying as it will likely move when you take off and on the headphones so i ended up putting it on a amount i liked and taping it in place.(extra info on the sound isolation if you have tinnitus or similar problems ) i have tinnitus in both my ears worse on my left and if you do and you are used to using normal headphones or even open backs these may get annoying because the sound isolation is so good its kinda like wearing earplugs and you don't need to put volume nearly as loud meaning my tinnitus can be really intrusive while wearing these i eventually got used to it but it can still get on my nerves when listening to music if you have tinnitus and you decide to buy these DO NOT use volume to drown it out! try to get used to it or return them for the open back version or something else

I bought the H6Pro Closed (White) from Amazon.de mainly for gaming, and I'm really impressed. The sound quality is outstanding. In Warzone, I can hear footsteps so clearly it almost feels unfair, like using a wall hack. The audio is very detailed and directional, which makes a huge difference in competitive games. The bass is also really nice - deep and atmospheric without being overwhelming. It adds a lot to the overall experience, whether you're gaming or just listening to music. The microphone is also excellent. My voice comes through super clear, and when I combine it with NVIDIA Broadcast, the quality is almost like a studio mic. It cancels out background noise really well, and my friends have actually commented on how good I sound in chat. One of the features I really love is the lift-to-mute mic. It’s a total game changer if I need to talk to someone in person without fumbling for buttons or settings. On top of that, the mic is detachable, so if I don't need it, I can just remove it and cover the slot with the provided cap. Super convenient. The headset comes with two cables. One has a single jack - perfect for laptops or phones. The other has two separate jacks - one for the mic and one for the headphones - which is ideal for a desktop PC with a dedicated sound card.
