Paint by Numbers 16x20" Framed Canvas for Adults - Cozy Winter Opalberry

I received my order for this Christmas scene paint-by-number by OpalBerry very quickly from the time I ordered it. The box came within a shipping box. The kits box is gorgeous in itself, and a lot of care was taken in designing the packaging. It included the paints, 3 paint brushes (nice quality than most PBN kits) a full size reference guide/map, and they also include a helpful magnifying book-mark! That was a sweet little surprise! The pictures I have included are of the paints, which came in shrink wrapped plastic which helps to ensure the paints won't get dried out, which is especially good if you aren't going to be working on the project right away! However, I wanted to test out the paint quality by swatching each color, which is my next picture. First of all, they give you a lot of colors which makes for a much more detailed and in depth painting! This kit has 30 colors! All of the paints were creamy and gorgeous! The swatch card shows what one coat is like so you can see the transparency or opaqueness of the colors. As usual in all PBNs I have experienced, the yellows and oranges are translucent. Some of the reds are as well. This is not surprising for PBN acrylic paints. You can easily see the opaque colors, which there are many of! I will likely still need to do more than one coat, just like you do when you are painting walls. It will give it a better finish. For the translucent colors, I go over the number marks (and some of the lines) with a little white paint before painting with the color, which will probably take 3 coats to cover the numbers and lines. The canvas is a beautiful cream linen, and this particular one came pre-mounted on a frame. The lines and numbers are a pale red color instead of the too often dark black in many kits! This makes it easier to cover with the paints. I will do a coat or two of gesso and a light sanding prior to painting, as I have done with my previous PBNs. This PBN kit is very detailed and I expect it to take me about 2 months to complete working on it a couple of hours at a time, 4-5 times a week. It will be something to enjoy on my wall for Christmas 2021! I also have another one of their paintings that came rolled up and not mounted on a frame. OpalBerry takes great care in making sure the rolled canvases come to you without creases from delivery by mailing it in a nice squared tube box which worked out perfectly! I am looking forward to painting that one as well as the paints swatched beautifully! Enjoy your painting!!! :)

This is my first attempt to do an adult paint by numbers. It requires patience, focus and attention to detail. It takes my focus of the everyday stress and into something creative. I opted for the non-framed flat canvas. It comes with everything you need. I likes particularly that the canvas was rolled. I did opt for a magnifying light which helps with the detail work. Some people might want to paint on a small aluminum easel... I chose to pain on a flat surface which give me more control All you need is a well lit area, a small glass of water to clean your brushes and toothpicks for the VERY small areas (I've only used them once so far) and some paper towels. I covered my surface area so I didn't get paint off the canvas. Make sure to rinse your brushes thoroughly and shape them for your next painting session. If you happen to leave the cap open and the paint gets thick, just add 2-3 drops of water to remedy that issues. Overall, this is a great product and I will post an update once mine in complete. This is my 2nd PBN framed kit and the first was an off brand about $9 cheaper. I wanted to try a name brand to see the difference. Being new to this hobby, take this review with a grain of salt from a newbie. The PRO's for this kit are that the Paints and little holders were definitely better in this kit. The paints were clearly marked. The Canvas was a little more plasticized which helped the paint to flow and cover better. The Red printing on the canvas does seem to cover easier when painting on it. Many different pictures to choose from when buying this brand. The SAME was the brushes that came with the kit, the framing and the Blk and Wht check sheet. The packagings were the same. The CON's for this kit are the numbers 6 and 9 on the canvas can be confusing sometimes with the way they lay on the canvas because they are NOT underlined / dotted. Which come to my biggest issue. The color comparison page is only 3 inches x 2.5 inches which is really hard to check colors if needed. The first cheaper kit had at least a 8.5 x 11 full color drawing. For an older person like me with not perfect vision this little color picture in this kit is useless. Its about the size of a business card. I still Highly recommend this kit for the newbies mainly because of the freshness/viscosity of the paints and the type of Canvas it is printed on. They are much better for a beginner like me. The 1 docked Star is because of the Really small comparison print. No the picture on the outside of the box is Not any better. Overall I give this 4.5 stars if it would let me and I will buy from them again. Please make the insert picture bigger it would make some of us older people happy. Thank you.

What a fun kit to paint! It had 30 vibrant colors and the paint was great quality. The kit was neatly packed, canvas was rolled up with no creases, and it even included a nifty magnifying ruler to spot all those tiny numbers. The red lines on the canvas made it easy to cover up all the numbers. The end result was really beautiful! I appreciated the care and attention that went into this kit to make it a one of a kind. I highly recommend Opalberry paint by number kits and look forward to doing another one!!

This is my third adult paint by number, but my first from this brand. I will be purchasing from them again. It was slightly disappointing that they dont include a reference photo or a paper copy with the numbers in case you make a mistake or cant read some of the tiny numbers on the canvas, but they made up for that in other ways. The canvas came rolled, so there were no creases. The paint was all in perfect condition and the paint brushes are higher quality than most sets. The painting itself is stunning and will go by faster than you expect.

I've painted about 2 dozen Paint by Number kits over the last few years. This by far has been my favorite and most enjoyable painting. The kit is very complete, including 3 wooden handled brushes and even clear gloss to give it a nice shine once you are done. This is the first kit to include the gloss. It also has great instructions for those that are just starting off on their PBN adventure. The numbers are very easy to read, but still cover easy when painted over (some kits you have to paint the area several times to cover the numbers). The paints spread easily and don't dry out too quickly. Overall, a win-win!

My first time trying this company, which was highly recommended. I have to admit that I was very disappointed. The framed canvas had one area that was not taunt, suggesting that an object with weight had been placed on top prior to packaging/shipping. Box arrived in perfect condition so, shipping did not appear to be the culprit. While it is not unexpected that the image/paint colours might differ slightly from the image, this kit had colours that were completely different. In addition, the paints were almost all transparent/streaky, requiring in some cases 4 coats. For that reason, had I finished this kit, I believe that I would have run out of paint for the first time ever. Several areas on the canvas (and reference sheet) had large cells that were side by side with the same number, which was strange. There were a couple of cells that had no number, reference sheet identical so, not helpful. After painting about 1/3 of the image, I noticed that 2 corners of the framed canvas started to fray. I finally gave up on this kit as it was not enjoyable to do and I really did not like the colours that were chosen, especially for the sky. I read some other reviews that have basically voiced the same issues. I think that this company is relatively new. I also think that, unlike some other PBN companies, they really do care about the reputation of their products. Some work really needs to be done on the quality of their paints and quality control to address the errors on their canvas(es). PBN addicts could certainly use another reliable source for quality as while there are some good ones now, there are alot of bad ones that rip people off of their hard earned dollars. I think that with the knowledge of what needs to be worked on, this company can become one of the "reliable" ones.

Of the four PBN kits I've bought, this one is the best. The numbers are clearly delineated, even in the smallest areas, and the canvas takes the paint very well. The inclusion of a finished, colored picture, although small, is helpful in visualizing the finished product. The only drawback is the lack of a number key on a separate page (for those tiny areas where the # might be obscured by surrounding paint). This kit might be challenging for beginners but not insurmountable, with a modicum of patience and PLENTY of time!

Good quality everything really makes a difference. Had one small crease (see pic) that I don't think will make any difference. There were two small errors in cells that were easy to identify and fix, i.e. in one case two cells adjacent to each had the same number. Beyond that, this was a joy to paint.

I have painted many sets and I just love the ones made by Opalberry! They are clearly numbered with colour lines ( big difference) the paints and brushes are great ! I love the welcome kit by the founders ! I will keep Buying them although they might cost more than other Brand’s. These paint sets have been my lifeline during a period of transition- Thank you!
