Hey, in my opinion it's more accurate than the other fat percentage weight scales. However, it's accurate only if you use it in 3-5 measuring points and keep consistent with these points.

How does this compare with the accu-measure 3000? can you also read this one yourself? (the accu clicks into place so you can read it yourself).

It does not click into place. However, I would purchase this over the accu-measure because the pinches are more consistent since it is spring- loaded and the accu-measure is not. I was thoroughly impressed with this caliper and for the price point, very comparable to high-end metal calipers.

Could this be used to measure the guage or thickness of a material like metal, or a ceramic mug?

No. It is large and un-precise. It's made to grab big hunk of fat. More specific measurements would be very difficult. Sorry.

I use this for the 3-site Jackson & Pollock estimate for body fat percent. It's been reliable and easy to use. Great for the price.

If you're looking to use body calipers and don't have a huge budget these are great. Unlike the cheaper and shorter plastic calipers these actually have a decently accurate dial on the back and the pincher style makes it much easier to take measurements in patients with lower body fat. They're light and kinda feel cheap but I've used it for a while and it hasn't broken and gives repeatable results
