Hi, this product is quite long and could be slightly bulky to use for your dog. You can get a shorter size which are made for a child's car seat straps that might be more beneficial. The other option which might work, is, whelping fleece which is pet friendly, available from a good pet store or on line, or, you could try a strap made of a fleece fabric with velcro for fastening.
