Gritomatic Hapstone 4" Stone Holder for Work Sharp Precision Adjust Knife Sharpener

This was a huge upgrade to my sharping setup. It works perfectly.

Been using this daily since I got it. It is metal so it will last (my LE broke after two knives, threads snapped in handle).I like this holder but had one problem with it. I use stones from different manufacturers. All are 4", but each has different ways the ends of their stones are shaped (ie some are on plates and some are flat, some are not as thick as others.The black piece can move around.Some of my stones cause the black piece to deflect up and also move a little while sharpening. That isn't good but there is a solution - I wrap an elastic tightly around that end and it holds everything still and flat.Updated: I decided to get this one replaced. The new one moves much less than the first. Must have gotten a bad one.

I get a kick out of buyers who purchase something without reading the description, then leave a terrible review because the product doesn't do something that the manufacturer never claimed it could, or would do.This product works fine, as advertised. If you expect to get quality edges on a single knife when you try stones of varying thickness, it will not work. It's in the description.If you try to use stones over 4 inches, it will not work. It's in the description.If you attempt to insert an irregular shaped stone into the holder (ie one with chamfered corners or one that is chipped or broken) it will not work.This product will not sharpen properly if: you use it and then switch back to the stock worksharp 'tri stone' on the same knife. The angle changes between this and the stock tri stone because of the difference in distance from the center of the rod to the stone face. You will have to adjust the angle each time you swap back to this product and that defeats the most crucial aspect of the worksharp precision adjust; keeping the same exact throughout.If you want to use this product and simply change to a different grit of 4 inch stone, you have to be absolutely certain the new stone is seated perfectly flush in this product. And if your 4 inch stone thicknesses vary by even 1/32 of an inch it will yield unfavorable results because it changes the sharpening angle.This is an excellent product when used correctly.

It works like a charm. Just buy the DMT diamond 4 inch stones (color coded). They barely fit, but they get the job done. Haven’t found any natural stones the fit it.,… yet.,..

Seems like a quality machined product but finding a 4in stone that has the beveled edges this needs is quite complicated, most of the stones I’ve found or bought have flat edges and this stone holder doesn’t fit flush with a flat stone in here it bulges out at the end piece causing all kinds of wonky issues https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09JNNH96T?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title this one from gritomatic works much better.
