I have very low requirements for a glass (solid, holds liquid), but my husband is quite particular, and he asked for fancy glasses for scotch for his birthday this year. I bought eight different sets of similar glasses and had a “glass tasting” for my him to choose his favorite as a birthday present. These were the most expensive, because we aren’t at a $400-for-four-crystal-glasses stage in our lives, but the rest ranged from similarly priced to much cheaper. He chose them based on look, the weight, and the angle of the side of the glass- some on offer were almost straight and felt slippery, these flare enough to give a good grip. There are visible seams, they are not crystal, but, while I’m sure there is some price premium because of the Waterford name, they are better quality than other similarly priced glasses in the same style available on Amazon.

I'm not an authority on these sorts of things. I am happy with my purchase but I did have some slight issues. The Pros: -They're quite nice. They seem like a good standard scotch or double rocks glass. -They have a good weight to them. The Cons -For a "Crystalline" product, they do have a very slight seam (see one of the photos). It is quite faint and luckily it's not something that sticks out like a sore thumb. Most people don't care, but if you're the type who are finicky about their glassware, maybe this one isn't for you. I ordered two sets of 4, one of the four glasses arrived broken. Luckily Amazon was happy to replace the broken one. As I'm writing this, these glasses were 60% off. Had I paid full price, I would say I didn't get my moneys' worth, but at the price I paid I'd say I got a good bargain. It's nothing I would buy as a wedding gift for a close family member, but definitely something I'd have at home for when company comes over. They're not dishwasher safe (but good glassware isn't meant to go in the dishwasher). And it's nice enough that company would be impressed but not so nice that I'd be upset if one broke. Definitely a step up from standard glassware.
