I would go 5 feet below the surface and the mask would suck to my face and exhaling air became super hard. Notmal?

Yes the feeling of being sucked to you face normal. A. If you go deeper than the height of the snorkel tube it will automatically close to avoid a lung full of water. If it is closed when you try to inhale it will suck to your face. B. If you're not trying to breath when you're going 5ft under the pressure from the water will squeeze against your face and that can feel like it's sucking to your face. people don't realize the pressure of water is quite high even a few feet down. Time to be a nerd, for every 27.67 in of water you go down equal 1psi for 5 ft that's about 2.17psi, take the size for you mask, lets say the size is 6.5in x 8in oval that equates to about 88.5 square inches, now multiply that by 2.17 you get about 88.5, that means there is about 88.5 pounds of force pushing your mask to you face

No but ideally don’t need too. It’s long enough for a good snorkel and easy to clear if you dive.
