Dargo - Each handset and the base have independent ringer control. HOWEVER, if you want to turn the ringers off temporarily (from 1 to 12 hours), use the QUIET MODE feature, which turns all sounds off on the entire system.

can you screen calls hearing the person leave a message?

In order to get the answering feature, do you have to have landline caller Id/service?

We switched from landline service (with caller ID service) with AT&T to cable phone (which includes caller ID service) via Spectrum, and our everything about the phone works exactly the same as it did with the landline - answering machine, caller ID, everything.
