If your car is older, it may have an EU badge with “GB” on the number plate. These are illegal now in the E.U. with a chance of being fined. If your car is newer, it may not have a badge at all. If you’re patriotic, you may have opted for one of the Union’s country flags. These are illegal in the E.U. too. Thus, before driving in the E.U., you need to do one of two things. 1) You can cover up your non-compliant number plate badge (as described above) using tape, and stick a UK sticker on your bootlid/hatchback. 2) Overlay your non-compliant badge with a UK Sticker. This kit allows you to do both. You don’t need to do both, but you MUST do one. The French Gendarmerie, in particular, have been known to fine British tourists, if their own holiday kitty is low. I have been a victim of this, though, I had committed a driving offence. However, so had loads of other drivers, who just happened to be French. Anyway, the other thing of note, which this kit is great for, is the provision of both solutions for around £5. The items are high quality. Additionally, as most of us driving to Europe, will go through France, it’s worth buying a Crit’Air sticker. A Crit’Air sticker is the French version of ULEZ control. The difference is, the French don’t rip their citizens off. The sticker costs around £4 FOR LIFE or as long as you keep that car. You buy it direct from the French Government. It takes up to 10 days to come and you stick it on your windscreen (in the correct place). If, like me, this is the first time since Brexit that you’re driving in France, and your holiday is in less than 10 days, don’t panic. When they process your application (which needs your VIN number) after 24-48 hours you get an invoice. This invoice has a printed sticker with your vehicle class. It’s proof you comply. The Crit’Air sticker is sent to the address you want. I mistakenly thought it was to the vehicle registered address. I misplaced my reg document (V5) after moving and I finally found it but it had my old address. Once you have paid, you can’t change the delivery address. Hopefully, this info has helped you. Lastly, this UK car set is Dottore Approved…buy it!
