Highly recommended
This is an excellent product, easy to set up and use, with great results. I had previously tried scanning old slides with an Ion “slides forever” device, but the quality was terrible because of low resolution. This Magnasonic is more expensive but there’s no contest when it comes to quality. The resulting images are clear and bright. You have to feed slides manually but it’s quick and easy - each slide pushes the previous one out the other side. Exposure or colour can be adjusted when (rarely) needed, though not in detail. The device has a very small internal memory so it’s advisable to buy some standard SD cards for bulk processing. Important note: it will only work with lower capacity cards - 2GB recommended (which will hold a few hundred images). Files can be transferred to computer via card reader or direct from the device. No software needed.

Works well but not overly robust. Will be quite beneficial.
This thus far works well. Processed about 200 35 mm slides over 2 or Captures to memory or SD card quite fast so productivity is down to your hands and fingers and degree of dexterity. As stated by others it is a little plasticky but aren’t many things. Handles a variety of slides and film negatives and also via HDMI will display on TV screen. NOTE. Sit in a good light and read the manual before starting,it doesn’t take long.Nothing complex but the USB cable is the “power cable” it does not charge a battery.I had the non existent battery charging overnight and was very disappointed when the machine would not switch on after I removed the USB lead. Seems rxpensive for what it is but it’s not a crowded market, it’s very convenient and cheaper than the a similar alternative. In my case I can now use the 34=year old slides images with modern equipment and reclaim quite a bit of storage room. Result a happy wife at least for now.

Excellent viewer, easy to use
I bought this to look through some old slides that I found at my mum's house whilst clearing it out. I wanted an easy way to view a large bag of slides from the 1960s - 1980's. This is so easy to use. You put the slide in the adapter provided, and then manually push the slide through the viewer with the next slide. It's easy to change the colour and brightness if you need to. Then just 1 press will capture the image onto the SD Card for you. It's only a few seconds per scan, and they are good quality. The picture above is from 1972, I did not edit any colour balance. I think the Magnasonic has produced a brilliant image. It is cheaper than other viewers out there, but it is certainly not lacking in quality. Again, as others have said, if your source image is faded or poor, then you won't get a brilliant scan, but otherwise I have absolutely no issues with it.

Potentially good, but disappointing
The scanner is well made, easy to use, and reasonably priced. The on-screen menu is easy to scroll through, and the buttons are convenient to operate. The colour rendition is very good with both slides and negatives, and the large display makes it easy to spot hairs or dust specks which have found their way in, before making a scan. I would have awarded five stars, but my scanner had a fault with the backlighting which the technical support line could not resolve, so I followed their advice and returned it for a refund. Maybe I was just unlucky?

Straightforward and easy to use .
The process of scanning is simple and the ability to edit a negative is quite basic but effective and again easy to use. Have not tried linking to TV.

Good value for money provided you don’t want large enlargements, a useful piece of kit.
Works as advertised, the colour and brightness adjustments are fairly crude and post processing on a computer gives better results. Seems to work better with negatives than slides and the digital results are ok for viewing on an iPad but blowing them up reveals the underlying pixelation. Thicker 35 mm slide mounts will not fit the slide carrier, fortunately I do not have many of these and I will have to either remount them in thinner mounts or fabricate a custom carrier. Negatives don’t feed easily through the film mounts especially 110 sized negatives which often stick and misfeed. The quality of slide images is highly dependant on the quality of the original slides, whereas negatives give more play. However for a low cost item it seems reasonable value for money. I won’t be disposing of the original slides and negatives as these would enable better quality prints if I need them, I suppose any copying process inevitably results in some loss of quality. I did not see and improvement in quality using the higher MP interpolation, just much bigger file sizes; in fact reducing the file sizes from 3 to 5 MB to 100 to 900 kB on my computer did not seem to degrade the images as viewed on my iPad much and reduced the storage requirements. Generally I am pleased with my purchase, I have not tried projecting the scanned images onto my smart tv to see if any pixelation is apparent there yet.

A Machine to transfer photos to a digital format
I found this machine easy to use, and it helped to digitize my slide collection. It works with 35mm film in negative form, and 110mm film Super 8 movie film.
