Works good except some unpleasant side effects
This stuff works good. It takes the edge off of daily stresses, and keeps me from being grouchy. Which runs in the family. I have found 2 a day works pretty good for me. At only 2 tho, it doesn't do very good as an antidepressant. But it does keep me calm. I got it up to 4 capsules per day recently and didn't like some of the side effects. 4 a day made me have to Pee every 5 minutes, day, and night. Which was very frustrating. Plus, I could not sleep, no matter what time of day or night I took it. It also made my nose swell shut, so I had to use nose spray at night, and again in the morning. Everyday. So, I've backed it back down to 2 every morning. I guess we'll see if I can keep taking it, or if I have to get an Rx from my Dr for something else, but I've been taking this for about 4 months now, and so far so good, as long as I only take 2 (10 mg).

Helps balance mood
First took this more than 10 yrs ago, hoping it would help my mood and energy -- been dealing with CFS/ME for 30+ years. I was already on an antidepressant but it seemed to be losing its effectiveness. Then I got Lyme Disease. Had to abandon antibios and use a rotating set of herbal protocols, which led me to dropping several supps to make room for others. Lithium orotate got left behind. There's been one major upset in my life after another over the past few years. My mental state, even after changing antidepressants, seemed to get worse and worse. Bottom line, after getting a couple of new diagnoses, I was still struggling to stay out of a black pit. A few months ago, I came across LO in an article about its success as a treatment for certain Lyme Disease issues. I'd beaten LD more than a decade before, and in the interim had contracted encephalitis. Add in a few more gut punches and nothing seemed to get me back to what I considered my baseline of energy and emotional stability. So decided to try LO again. I followed directions to build up dosage slowly, but I still noticed improvement very quickly. After yet more med changes / experiments, I still felt broken. Sort of stabilized so cut back on lithium orotate. But I'm going to resume using as I still feel fuzzy and lethargic (tho not nearly as depressed most days. LO is reasonably priced, and IMO, worth a try if you struggle with roller coaster moods. After refreshing my memory on the supp, I realized I got results at a very low dose 5-10mg; 20mg is widely considered common. No GI effects at all, BTW, and I've got latent GERD that supps can set off.

Lithium for the win!!!!!
My husband naturally carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, but in the winter, seasonal affective disorder sets in. The lithium is great for him. He started out with 5 mg each morning. With the lithium, during the day, I hear him laughing out loud at funny things. I got the idea from David Tomen's website - he calls himself the nootropics expert, and judging from the voracious way he keeps up with all the latest research, I would agree! Another change we made in my husband's supplements at about the same time was switching to a methylated B complex. A grandson of ours tested out to have a MTHFR related problem in his DNA which means one of us 4 grandparents is a carrier, so though we haven't been tested, it doesn't hurt to pre-methylate and save your body the extra work. Lithium enhances the transport of folate and B12 into brain cells, amongst many, many other good things, according to research Tomen quotes. Hubby has now moved up to 10mg. and is happy with that dose. I haven't tried it because I am happy almost all the time anyway and don't have problems with worry or anger, but in going back and re-reading about all of the other good effects of lithium, I will start adding it to my weekly vitamin organizer.

So far so good
Had itching (common lithium side effect?) the first 24 hours on my arms but not after that. Then had a mild headache for several days after that. Decided to take 1 pill only every other day for a week to get used to it then ramped up to 1 a day the 2nd week. Haven’t had any side effect issues with that regimen. And it’s probably too early to tell, but I believe I’ve felt a little sharper mentally since beginning this supplement. No odor or taste to speak of so I’m happy with that. I’ll continue taking this based on my data so far.
