For easy use, take the detached pump and insert it in with the first connector tube. Use an extra amount of force to insert the metal connector that is attached to the pump and connect it with the black tube. Make sure it is locked in place. Step 2: Inflate while Wheel is Down After the pump is connected to the first tube. Use the wheel to close the air chamber once you pump it to your liking. The air controller with a small wheel is versatile. Make sure you slide the wheel down before squeezing the inflation device. Squeeze and release until the neck traction device is fully inflated. Step 3: Push Wheel Up to Secure Air After you have inflated the neck traction device, slide the small wheel up so it prevents the airflow in the tube. If you feel that it is too tight on your neck kindly deflate a bit of the air out of the neck traction to your comfortable state for effective use. Then you can enjoy using your CHISOFT Neck Traction Device. Try this Neck Traction + Washable Cover Today By wearing the soft nylon designed neck traction device, you correct poor posture, while you work at your desk. After correcting poor posture, the device maintains and stretches tense muscles due to stiff neck, over worked neck, or fatigue best of all it provides relief and relaxation in the following neck regions especially the spine. Office workers sit at their desk for hours at a time, without moving the muscles that control the neck. The result is painful stiffening of the muscles or worse muscle degeneration. Review: Can't go wrong for the price. - First of all, never purchase medical devices online unless you know that they are the proper equipment to use for your specific injury. Always consult a doctor (or chiropractor) before using something like this. The traction device itself is perfect. For a fraction of the price of other traction devices, this gets the job done. I have issues with my cervical vertebrae due to forward head posture, and this corrects the curve of my neck and takes pressure off of the uppermost vertebrae, relieving my neck pain and chronic headaches. Unlike some other reviewers, I use this to relieve pain, rather than as a preventative. I was sent a different color than indicated, but blue vs brown makes little difference in how it works. The device is has two velcro straps that hook in the front, and they are quite secure in holding the device on your neck. After pumping the bulb (it takes quite a bit of effort to fully inflate the air bladders for the first time, I don't recommend fully deflating them unless necessary for travel) the top pillow pushes upwards on my skull and chin, stretching my neck upwards. I've never had to fully inflate the air bladders, but I do have a very short neck, so your experience may be slightly different. I wear it for about 10 minutes at a time (either laying down or sitting up, but laying down is most effective since it forces your head to relax and fall backwards). It feels and looks a bit foolish, but takes the pressure off of my vertebrae and relieves pain. Since I've only had this item for a week I can't say very much about the durability, but it is made of a very sturdy material. I'm quite impressed by the quality for the price I paid. I will update this review as I continue to use the device! Review: Decent quality, will eventually develop leaks but still works - I just noticed many years later the covering wasn't included. I'm a doc...traction works just be careful not to choke yourself or constrict your vascular circulation. This one is comfortable but after a year I needed to use a clamp on the hose to hold air. Still, one of the better ones I've owned at a reasonable price and I've lent it to family members too so it's had a lot of use and arguably I could give it 4 stars - but not holding air is obviously a big problem and I might try something else next time around. But it was still a reasonably useful device that I've now managed to still use off and on for a few years. It not only immediately eases pain but aids healing of "pinched nerves" by easing the gravity effects of vertebral compression allowing some healing time and breaking the pain cycle.

Really worked! - Then started to leak!
I am skeptical of all these chiropractor type things but I took a chance for the small price and am super surprised and happy. Within a few days of using this a couple times a day I had a striking change that resulted in a real change in the range of motion and complete removal of neck pain from turning my head. I'm pretty sure that the velcro is going to give out soon, it really opened up my ideas about using this sort of thing and I'm going to order some other similar things for back and neck. It's interesting, it doesnt feel like you'd expect when you use it. It inflates and you feel a little tension but it's not obvious that it's stretching. Then when you relax the tension, you feel your neck slowly moving back to normal and it moves quite a bit!! Really good and felt very safe. UPDATE: After a few months of using this a few times a week, the product developed an air leak and is in the trash! I think though that it was such a value at $10 and I got so much use out of it, I'm not unhappy to order another. It also gave me an inexpensive entry into trying out a new type of product!

not high tech or an "amazing miracle cure" but helps with pain
I have a pinched nerve that causes neck stiffness, shoulder pain, and numbness in my arm from time to time and I can just get a GOOD neck stretch, it helps to eliminate some of the discomfort. This traction device certainly did the job- it inflates (via small hand pump) around your neck sort of like a blood pressure cuff does, and in doing so, sort of forces your neck and head up and into a good straight position. Doing so take the pressure off the spine and, with regular use, this will relieve some of the discomfort. I wouldn't recommend this for those with serious pain- you really need one of the over-the-door devices for that. But if you need something to help give your neck and shoulders a good stretch from time to time, after sitting or gardening, etc., this might work for you as it does for me. I'm 5'4", 120 pounds, so I have a fairly small neck/frame, and I will say that this device was a bit large and in time I'm probably going to have to add some velcro so I can get a good, snug fit. But it was certainly tall enough to provide a good stretch while inflated (any taller and it would have been useless) and I have not noticed any leaking of air or shoddy materials in the times I have used it. The hand pump is a bit on the cheapy side- it takes forever to get the thing inflated and, therefore, a lot of squeezing with your hands so I would NOT recommend this for anyone with hand pain and/or arthritis unless you plan to replace the pump. Also, there is a serious chemical/plastic smell to it when it first comes out of the packaging, so be aware of that as well. This is a good item for those who need occasional relief, but I would recommend something a little more advanced/and or well built if you need to be doing traction several times a day to relieve severe pain.

Unforgivable
After suffering from bulging discs for 3 months, I decided to give this product a try. I was very excited to recieve it. The FIRST time I tried it, it leaked immediatly. I wrote the company, explaining that I understand things like this happen.. They were NICE enough to send me another one at no cost! Unfortunately, this item is a LEGITIMATE piece of garbage. The second item leaked as well. SOOO disappointed. When a person orders an item like this, they are likely in EXTREME pain and in need of relieve. What a total disappoinment it will be when you use this item and realize it's a waste of time, money and hope :( Instead, I'd suggest you invest a bit more and try the Neck Pro Traction Device. It's reliable, in-home traction that really helps relieve the pressure from your neck.

I Opened the Box and Had Relief in Half an Hour
Hi everyone. I purchased this device because I have a simple problem that many like me have. I work tethered to a desk all day in front of a computer and sometimes my shoulders and neck get so tight it's almost debilitating. Ok, maybe I'm being dramatic there, but it's really uncomfortable. I've tried all kinds of stretches but the truth is, I really do need to be more diligent about exercise and particularly some yoga stretches to stay limber. But I digress. I got this just this morning and couldn't wait to try it out. The first 10 minutes I felt like an idiot. I looked at myself in the mirror. The bottom of my face looked kinda squished and I really didn't feel a whole lot of release. Then 5 minutes later, I pumped it up a little more and wiggled my neck some, keep good posture while seated. I pumped it up a little bit more. Within 25 minutes I definitely felt something but I just wasn't sure if it was a big deal. Then I slowly released the pressure, turned my head left and right, wiggled it back and forth and that was over 3 hours ago. My shoulders haven't felt this good in a really long time. I'm telling you, no tightness whatsoever, no cracking in my neck when I turn it back and forth. Wow! I am so impressed and I'm going to use it later on again while I watch a movie and sip on a margarita. I'm no doctor and cannot dispense medical advice, but for the price, what have you got to lose? Give this product a try. I hope it lasts awhile and if you've seen any of my other reviews, you know I'll be back to report if it doesn't. Also, a couple people here commented on the smell. Yes, it does have a kinda moth-bally smell to it but tonight I'll stick it in a zip bag with a dryer sheet and I'm sure that'll take the smell away. It's not at all a musty smell; just seems like whoever stored these wanted to make sure it stayed dry and fresh. Kinda like that cheap plastic smell of new products masked with moth balls. Small bother - but this is just great. I've gotta go now and post a pic of me with it on to my Facebook page. Oh, one last thing. I'm 5'2" with, I guess, an average size neck. I didn't feel choked at all, but I can imagine a more average size person might experience what some suggest is an uncomfortable tightness around the neck. I guess positioning the Velcro straps differently would help alleviate that a bit.

Cuts down on visits to the chiropractor for my chronic neck problem
I have had a chronic neck problem since 1995 mainly due to osteoarthritis of the neck (probably related to an injury that occurred long, long ago). Every day activities such as driving aggravate my neck causing pain to radiate to the back of my shoulders. Chiropractic visits help, also ice packs and my husband "kneading" on the related knots, plus ibuprofen. Nothing will cure me, but as long as I can keep it down to a dull roar and cut down on visits to the chiropractor, I am a happy camper. The doctor gave me an ungainly traction device years ago which I put somewhere and never used; it would have required me sitting in a doorway. This device looked too good to be true, but for a few dollars less than just one chiropractor visit I decided it was worth a shot! It works! I use it almost every day. I find it best to put it on after I get up in the morning (after my shower) and leave it on for about 20 minutes while I'm getting ready for the day and/or checking my email. I sometimes skip a day and I sometimes put it on more than once. I suggest you start out with just 10 minutes. I may have lost track of the time and left it on a little longer than 20 minutes a time or two, but I don't think there is much benefit from wearing it longer than that during one session. My neck feels a little weird after I take it off, but that goes away and I feel better the rest of the day. My son recently hurt his neck and is trying to get better with the help of chiropractor. I am going to let him try out my Cervical Neck Traction device and see if he thinks it will aid his recovery. If so I'll gladly order one for him as it's been worth every penny for me. I was going to the chiropractor once every two or three weeks, I haven't been for two months as of today and feel great! It might not work for everyone, but I suppose you can send it back if you don't like it.

Poor Quality, but it it works
First the good news: It does work. It's fairly simple to use and moderately comfortable. I found relieve from pain with 15 minutes per day. The bad news: It's made poorly. The screw valve is very cheap and falls off. They did ship it with a backup hose clamp, I am guessing to solve the problem with the main screw valve. The biggest issue I have is that the plastic of pump bulb is rapidly disintegrating and constantly sheds a nasty black power, much like tire grime. My palm is completely black after I use it, and the stuff gets on everything. This is really gross. The bag itself seems to be made well, and works well. But the inflation system needs replacing. In summary: This works, but look for a different vendor.
