This shredder is bullet proof. I bought this just to shred cardboard to add to my compost bins. I have shredded so many boxes I've long lost count. I fill large leaf bags full of shreds and I have seven full bags waiting to go in the compost right now. I have put untold bags full already into the compost bins. Of course it shreds paper like nothing. This thing is quiet, easy to use, a large collection bin that is very easy to empty and replace. I have continuously shredded for at least two hours straight without stopping. I have had it stop in overheat mode 3 or 4 times but I try to stop when I feel the side getting very warm. I do oil the cutters with proper shredder oil each time I use it. The controls are very simple easily accessible at the top. You can manually reverse the cutters and manually run forward as well. It's a momentary hold down of the buttons. The shredder automatically starts when it senses paper entering the top and automatically senses when the bin is full. The shreds are quite small which makes composting quick and for documents impossible to read afterwards. It has rollers instead of feet that are lockable which makes it very convenient to move around without picking it up. And if you want to pick it up it has nice hand holds on the sides to make that as easy as possible. This unit is quite heavy because of the large cutter head and motor inside. I would classify this as a commercial type shredder that you would find in a large office. It is well worth the purchase price. It comes fully assembled except for the wheels which are very easy to install. You won't regret buying this unit.Update : 5/19/26The shredder teeth stopped turning even though the motor still runs. It's not jammed. We'll see how well they cover their warranty.They did cover their warranty they sent me a whole brand new one unfortunately it did have some shipping damage it still works though we'll see if they send me parts to replace the broken part or offer to replace it again the case to the motor portion got broken and the plastic pieces that lock the bin in on the left side was broken when I opened the box...Update 6/14/26they are sending me another new one. Their customer service is exceptional. You don't have to worry about the company supporting their products, they do.Follow up 6/16/26 the new unit arrived already!!! and this one came undamaged thank goodness. I can't say enough of Bonsens customer service. Just some questions answered and some pictures sent of the damage or defect and they quickly respond with an offer of your money back or they'll send another. You can't beat that. This thing is a beast. Just take it easy when it eventually gets hot, let it rest, come back to it. Don't overdrive it with too much resistance in the paper slot. Even though the cutters can handle almost anything the friction in the paper slot can put undue stress on the drive shaft. I widened the slot a bit and that did it for my cardboard. I highly recommend Bonsen.

I recently purchased the paper shredder and it has exceeded my expectations. As someone who receives a lot of junk mail, I needed a reliable shredder that could handle heavy loads without skipping a beat. This is an excellent paper shredder. Not very fast, but it has a lot of torque and rarely bogs down, or jams, even with very heavy, stiff cardboard. For the past couple of years we have used this to shred all manner of cardboard boxes for mulch, and even being kept in an outside (covered) garage somewhat exposed to the elements for better part of a year, the only problem is the power button became stuck (in the On position fortunately). I would highly recommend.Related note: From the factory, the opening is too narrow to effectively feed thicker cardboard (such as the heavy duty moving boxes). However, I performed some minor surgery with a Dremel tool to enlarge the feed opening, and now it works great. This involves some minor disassembly; however, if you're' careful to mind wires, especially the light activated feed sensor, it's not hard to do. Unfortunately, I have not found a reasonably priced unit on the market that will feed cardboard. If you're willing to modify, this unit will do it.If it fails, I would purchase again.

If you can get it in the slot without binding this thing will shred it. Paper, paperclips, film, card stock, file folder, cds, credit cards... it barely strains when fully loaded. I used this unit for about 40 minutes at a time for about 3 days now, letting it cool for an hour in-between sessions. It shreds nicely, quietly and efficiently. There is a bit of paper dust after several uses, and stray shreds fall inside the cabinet. But this is a very good value and seems to be holding up well. Without jamming or overheating.. so far. It is a relatively slow process to shred the number of documents I need to dispose of, so I'm still going to schedule a shredder truck. But I'm glad I bought this shredder and I'll get very good use out of it.

Very solid machine—Strong and consistent. I like the reversal option to back out items when they bind. Has a heat warning feature which is nice. Heavy duty unit on rollers—Not top heavy.

Handles paper a handful at a time and is remarkably quiet. Good machine.

This thing is an absolute beast! It will shred just about anything with ease. Need to shred cardboard? No problem. Tired of junk mail and catalogs? This shredder is for you. Wish I had bought this years ago. Say goodbye to junk mail without having to open it or prepare it. Just shove them in and it will tear through it all. After several months we haven't had a problem with anything jamming or getting stuck in the teeth. It even does a quick run after each shred to clear itself. And the pieces are pretty small -- not microscopic, but I doubt you'll need them much smaller unless your stuff is top secret. Perhaps not the cheapest shredder, but worth every penny. Highly recommend!

This shredder is a terrific machine. Over time we had stored decades worth of shredding. I was using a good but incredibly loud shredder that just wasn't up for this job. I bought the Bonsen and my only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner. Its quiet, capable, and sturdy. Comes with a large basket so you're not constantly emptying it. Its pricy but I'd buy it again.

Well made sturdy build. I had no problem shredding old tax returns, although unit is rated at 24 max sheets I have only tested at 18 sheets and it worked well. Shredder is fairly quiet and easy to operate with only two control buttons forward and reverse.

This is what we were looking for. Got rid of the old cheapy, one sheet at a time. This thing just grinds up all the pages. So much easier and no burn out
