Bolt on replacement for the PowerPlus model
This unit replaced one we had in service for 14 years. Our electrician switched it out in under 2 hours. It performs better and quicker than the old model. We are very pleased with this purchase.

What an improvement
Replaced 20 year old PowerStar unit...this unit is the recommended replacement...had to make a small relocation as the unit is deeper and the piping is larger...the technology is so much improved.

Replacement
Relatively easy installation as a replacement. During an initial installation you must insure that you have adequate power to the breaker box and then run 3 separate 8 gauge cables to the tankless water heater.

Fair price for USED/DEFECTIVE product
Tankless water heater arrived with missing Temperature Setting Knob, and was NOT fully operational as advertised by on Amazon! I installed this item as replacement for failed older model Bosch Tankless water heater with similar connection locations. Final visual checkout found heating module control cable disconnected. After startup water heated, but only to a tepid temperature. I then attempted to raise temperature setting from displayed 95 degrees, but the display did not change in response to turning the control stem. Contacted Bosch Service where the tech quickly walked me through a few trouble-shooting steps resulting in a replacement Circuit Board being sent to me as the unit was determined to be under warranty. Timothy, at Bosch, further advised as how to temporarily set the unit to supply hotter water by disconnecting a sensor wire. This is now sufficing until replacement PCB arrives. I must say, that Bosch's support service is superb, very friendly, and knowledgeable.

Much better than the previous model
Bought this to replace my AE125. I was expecting the same performance but this easily exceeds the older model.

Get plumbing and electrical estimates before you buy.
Even though this is recommended for a 1-bathroom in the Southwest, I wanted to install this in my 2.5-bathroom in the Northeast. I had originally thought to daisy chain two of these together, but my plumber was concerned that the water flow could be limited if I tried to run both showers at the same time. Instead, he advised me to keep my existing hot water heater, but just lower the temperature, which he advised would save anywhere between 10-20% on my heating bill. (I should also note that my dishwasher and my washing machine both have their own electric heaters, so I really only needed this for the two showers.) Pay attention to the showerheads: my master bath has one that on economy mode runs at 2.5GPM. Some water-saving showerheads are better than others. (The Nebia, if it actually comes out, is supposedly at 0.9 GPM but I'm going to wait for the reviews...). Make sure your sinks have aerators, and bathtubs will fill quite differently. In my area the plumbing work costs $600. The electrical cost is over $1500 (the electrician explained that this was because a lot more work had to be done). Between the cost of the electric, the plumbing, and the device itself, you're looking at basically $3k. Heating prices have fluctuated wildly in the last 12 months, so it's tough to estimate when this will pay for itself. Probably sometime around 7-10 years, right about when the warranty ends (though that doesn't mean much: it might still be good for another decade or more). Assuming it makes financial sense, it's a great product. Also, make sure your plumber is cool with you buying stuff from Amazon. Some plumbers are real picky about where their materials come from.

Totally pissed off!!!
Getting ready for bosch tankless water heater#4. First one worked well till it was out of warrantee for about a yr. Second one worked good until plumber left power to it when he drained it. Now less than 2yrs later only getting hot water for less than a minute & then turns cold. One of heating elements not getting hot, but getting plenty juice according to electrician. Will call this am to see what kind of customer service I get. Might have to change brands. Well, just spent 2 hrs on phone. No customer service! Won't do a thing&can't even recommend some one who could look at it&Maybe fix it within 100mi&I would have to pay for it. Finally told them they could stuff it up their ass&ordered a echo smart eco27 to replace it with. Do not buy a Bosch anything. If I had money I'd love to hire a lawyer!
