I have medication that needs to be kept safe in a fridge. Will this work? Or will the fridge cause the fingerprint scanner to not work?

Yes it will work and is a great idea to keep your meds safe. The battery life may be shortened from the cold though, so change the batteries a little more often if they seem sluggish.

Is there an indicator light when plugged in to let you know it is charging?

Yes there is. But my sister took a knife and broke into it. She stole my meds. Now it's broken. The first time I used it. A piece of junk.
