do these fit true to size?

No. They run small, in my experience. I wear a size 9.5 American in dress shoes and need a size 10.5 in this current line of Reebok’s. Also be sure you know which model you are getting. The non-leather MEMT version is poorly made and uncomfortable, but approximately the same price and general appearance. Stick with the Club C85 leather stitched version which is more like the original shoe of years ago.

Would these be good for squatting and leg workouts?

I wear them mostly for long walks but since they are not terribly heavy weight I would imagine they would work for your purpose, Very well made ( made in Thailand) btw and good looking.
