can i plug a external loud speaker to it ? You know one of the Ion portable ones ?

Not sure about adding a speaker but have owned this for over 8 years camping and mostly at the beach sounds awesome pretty loud

Do I need to buy an additional wire/antenna if this unit will only be used inside a home ?

No easy answers. The unit comes with an antenna that can be moved to a location where reception is better. The antenna wire is fairly long and when attached to the radio the excess is wound around provided brackets. It may work fine where you place the radio but if you aren't getting good reception the wire is long enough to move the antenna closer to a window or other location with better reception. When I place mine in the kitchen I run the wire outside the window for improved reception. (a metal bracket to attach the magnetic base to beats trying to prop the thing somewhere on the window sill)

The base is stationary. If you wanted to adjusted it up or down that is not an option.
