The American Music Library is a major new series from Fantastic Voyage and is sure to be of considerable interest to music lovers with a particular interest in accumulating a substantial collection of hit singles. The American Music Library celebrates US hit singles big and small. Concentrating on only those singles that did not chart in the UK, it deliberately avoids duplication of tracks on compilations like the British Hit Parade series, which many collectors have assiduously purchased over the years. The Hits of 1959 is a 90-track 3 CD set which features: All 37 US Pop 10 hits from 1959 that didn't make the UK chart All 10 additional US Country and R&B chart-toppers that evaded the US Pop Top 10 (and again didn't make the UK charts)

Incredible collection excellent oldies at a bargain price
Absolutely superb compilation of hits from the late 50’s. Given the quantity of songs and inexpensive cost, this is an incredible bargain! If you love oldies this is a must have collection.

Some good tracks here. reminds me of sitting in local milkbar and feeding the jukebox. A real nostalgia trip. Mind you, some of the tracks must have been minor hits, but the collection is none the worse for that!

Encore une réussite d'Acrobat
Ce coffret, qui comprend 3 CD, propose les hits américains non classés dans le top 40 en Grande Bretagne. Il est le complément parfait de la série « British Hit Parade – Top 40 » qui comprend 2 coffrets de 4 CD pour l’année 1959 « Janvier à Juin » et « Juillet à Décembre ». L’avantage est de n’avoir aucune redondance de morceaux entre ces deux séries (ce qui n'est pas le cas avec les coffrets "American's Greatest Hits"). C’est valable pour les années 1959, 1960, 1961 et 1962.On a ainsi sur le CD1 et le début du CD2 37 top ten américains. Le CD2 comprend six N°1 « Country » et quatre N°1 « R&B ». On trouve en complément des succès du « US Pop Hot 100 » : 13 pour la fin du CD2 et 30 pour le CD3.Pour le CD1, tous les morceaux sont très bons avec l’original de « Kansas City » de Wilbert Harrison (# 1) souvent repris par la suite (Little Richard, Beatles, Tom Jones, …), « Along came Jones » des « Coasters » (# 9) (Zorro est arrivé), « There goes my baby » des Drifters (# 2) magnifiquement repris en 1965 par les Walker Brothers ou l’inoubliable « What’d I say » de Ray Charles (# 6).Pour le CD2 on a en plus des superbes hits « Country » (notamment de Jim Reeves ou de Johnny Cash) et « R&B » (notamment de James Brown ou de Jackie Wilson) on trouve ensuite de bons morceaux du hot 100 comme « Are you lonesome tonight » de Jaye P. Morgan antérieur à la version inimitable d’Elvis Presley.Pour le CD3, bien que globalement moins exceptionnel que les 2 autres CD, on peut apprécier parmi ces morceaux du Hot 100, « So fine » des Fiestas (#11) qui sera bien repris en 1966 par Sonny & Cher, « Back in the USA » de Chuck Berry (#37), le trépident « Sugaree » de Rusty York, les plaisants « True true happiness » de Johnny Tillotson ou « Suzie Baby » de Bobby Vee, l’énergique « Shout » des Isley Brothers ou le bon « Living doll » de David Hill bien que la version de Cliff Richard soit nettement supérieure.Encore un très bon coffret de Acrobat music.
