I have had this wheel for a couple months now. A little bit longer. It is still good. Spins very nicely. Pros: Wheel is very safe, Almost perfect size for a Syrian hamster if not a little big for one, Spins very nicely even without using cooking oil on the rod where it spins, and it is also very quiet. ( Which is a bit of a shame because I like the noise to fall asleep to and I also just like hearing my hamster run in it )... Last but not least my hamster loves this wheel. Cons: The height of the wheel to the wheel base is a bit short so When setting it up you have to dig the bedding out from underneath the wheel to get it to spin easier which also makes the stability of the wheel worse which we will get into next. Next the stability of the wheel is fine for the most part. If you are putting it ontop of bedding like me then it may be angled differently depending on how flat youve got your bedding. I would always be wary of it toppling over. But on flat ground it is pretty stable and I wouldnt worry about it toppling over. I would still try to wiegh the base down with some heavier bedding just in case. Personally for me I use string and tie it to my wire cage which does alleviate the bottom of the wheel hitting the bedding as much. I never had a problem with it toppling over. Cleaning the cage can be a little bit of a pain because of them using that little metal clip on the rod. You have to get a needle nose pliers or something similar to take that clip off to really clean the wheel. Luckily though its pretty basic on how the things go together just make sure not to lose the tiny metal clip and the plastic pieces which attach the running base together. Overall: This is one of the best wheels that you can get for a Syrian hamster, My hamster loves it, It is a very safe wheel for them as well, It is silent ( to silent for me ), It is hard to find other variations or colors for this wheel off of Amazon, Hard to take it apart without a needle nose pliers for cleaning, and can be difficult to secure to your cage depending on what cage you have. I totally recommend this wheel if you can secure the wheel to the cage ( just to be safe ).. Hamster loves the wheel.. Oh I already said that.

In a sticker right on the back it says that this wheel is not recommended for gerbils because they are chewers, and my boys ARE big chewers, but after a month with this wheel they have not chewed it at all! So gerbil owners breathe a sigh of relief! One of my boys LOVES this wheel and will gladly spend 40+ minutes running on it every day even after a long time in the out-of-cage playpen. The other could care less, goes on a 30 second sprint and then leaves it alone for a week. I think how your pet will enjoy this wheel all comes down to personality. It is fairly quiet, but you would definitely hear it if it was in your room at night. My gerbils’ cage is in our basement directly below our room and I never hear the wheel unless I am in the basement with them. It can handle very fast runners, and I know that it is safe on their necks and tails. Overall a great win! It doesn’t come apart though, so if one had a hedgehog or other animal that poops when they run, it would be difficult to clean. Otherwise just running it under water and drying it off whenever it gets dirty (for me once a month-ish) is all it needs.

Here's my experience with this wheel answering 3 basic questions: 1.) Is it silent? Answer: Mostly. It is almost SILENT on it's own, must of the noise is when my little fella puts his food in it or poops in it. Also, the sound of his feet when he runs. None of this is the wheel's fault of course so I would say 5/5 on silence. 2.) Is it easy to to clean? Answer: No. Is it the worst I've cleaned? No. But it is not easy. There are two ways to do it. Either you take the wheel apart and clean each piece individually and wrestle it back together or you stick your hands though the holes to clean the back and track. I use the second opition cuz my hands are pretty small, but it's still a pain in the butt and not a quick clean. 3.) Is it a good size? Answer: Oh heck yeah. Probably the best aside from a 12in Carolina Storm wheel. I have a baby Syrian male and I knew he was gunna be pretty big cuz his mom was a chonkers. He just turned 2 months today and he is PACKING. He's about 6 inches long right now. No curving of the back and it's easy for him to push even when he packs the corners around it with bedding (that's where his den is, little stinker). Overall, I am satisfied with this wheel and if something were to happen I'd probably buy another one. But I want everyone to know my experience so they can know if this will be a good fit for them and their hammie.

Our (enormous) Syrian hamster loves this wheel and runs on it endlessly! There are only a couple things I don't super love about it. The wheel itself is very low to the ground, so I have to move the bedding away from it on a daily basis to keep it spinning. It's a bit difficult to clean, because I need to use needle-nosed pliers to pull it apart for deep cleaning and baby oil on the metal sections to keep them from rusting. The parts are very specific, so if you lose one you'll have to order more somewhere other than Amazon. I had to buy extra plastic pieces from Exotic Nutrition. Other than that, it's a great wheel and our hamster really does seem to enjoy it! It's big enough so that she can run on it without arching her back, and the quality is very high.

One of our Syrian female hamsters is fairly large, and so we wanted to get a larger wheel that is comfortable for her. This one works really well, the running surface is solid with no openings, and the hamster can get in easily. Do note that this wheel is tall, so it won't fit on your typical pet store cage which is too small for a Syrian hamster anyway. This wheel does sometimes get debris in it, which you can easily shake out. We have some other solid plastic wheels which I clean by just running water inside them, with this one I am not sure if the water would damage it or not (seems to be fine), and it is a little tricky drying it after you do that. But the hamster loooves this wheel.

I'm super happy with this purchase. It's sturdy, super quiet and runs very smoothly. My Syrian absolutely loves it!! 100% a must buy for hamster owners.

Why I chose the Wodent Wheel: - it is big enough - simple design meaning there is less that can go wrong - it didn't cost $30 to ship to Canada. initial Reaction: I paid HOW MUCH for THIS??? I admit I questioned my decision making paradigm and thought perhaps my career would have best been spent in pet supplies. Cleaning before putting it into the cage was awful and I wasn't sure if I made the right decision in purchasing this wheel. In my struggles in putting this wheel together, I learned that the loud echoey sound can occur if the wheel guard is not correctly in place and I learned it is helpful to put the wheel pieces together prior to putting it onto the stand, which made subsequent cleans much easier, but still time consuming. One week later: My hamster loved this wheel from day one. He refused to even come out an play with me for a good two days because he was having so much fun running on it. It's not silent - I can hear his little paws running, and it can get a little noisy when he poops because it goes around and around in the wheel before falling out. I find when he runs at a good speed the base can bounce a bit, but is easily muffled with a towel placed beneath the cage. After cleaning, I put a little coconut oil where the wheel fits onto the stand and have had no issues with squeaking. Conclusion: I'm happy with my purchase, and so is Clover. I would definitely recommend this wheel. It is somewhat finicky to remove and replace the key and put it together after cleaning, but as long as you fairly dexterous, it should be fine.
