The taste is rich, pungent, robust and different. If you're looking for a unique flavored coffee but still want the coffee essence, then this is a good & unique choice. I added a dash of salt (to reduce the bitterness) to my moka maker & ground the beans to a very fine quality and it brought out a wealth of taste! I wanted to give this coffee 5 stars but it's just a bit more bitter than I prefer, even after adding salt (yes, salt reduces bitterness in coffee). Enjoy!

It's doable but not a favorite. The coffee flavor itself is very mild. You can pick up on the hints of clove, chocolate, and whatnot. It seems naturally on the sweeter side of coffees, so watch your sugar and creamer on the first cup. You may need to adjust. I don't know how fresh the beans are either. The initial smell left more to be desired. They just seem lackluster. Especially considering the cost. For those who like a lighter coffee flavor, this is probably a good fit. If you are a connoisseur, I suggest a different variety.

YUM best ever

Sorry, this is not French roast, not even close. It is fresh and I’m sure it’s a solid 4 star medium roast but this company is a little full of themselves. You are not allowed to redefine universally accepted descriptions of roasting types. You certainly lose some characteristics of flavor when roasting dark but that is up to the consumer to decide. They say it is roasted without being burnt. Good french roast coffee is right on that line, I remember the chart, the next descriptor past French roast is “ruined” LOL.
