A Thoughtfully Designed and Comfortable Chair for Hiking, Backpacking, and Camping
This review is targeted squarely to the backpacker who is interested in maximizing camp comfort in a chair that is as light as possible. I spent a lot of time writing (old school with pencil and paper/journal or electronically via an iPod) in wilderness locations and I'm not "too old" to do this comfortably for long periods of time sitting on a rock or lying on a sleeping pad. I've tried a number of "chair" options, including the Cascade Designs Therma-Rest Neo-Air rolled up into a cylinder and secured in a big stuff sack or pack, sling chairs, "Crazy Creek" style chairs, simple sit pads, and on ... and on ... and on ... And so, over the course of the past year, I found myself falling slowly in love with the Helinox Ground Chair. Highlights: (1) Bottom supports, combined with the "cage" style frame (as opposed to individual legs) make this a very stable chair on uneven ground. (2) High back and low sitting position offers more posture flexibility than "to-the-ground" chairs (like a folding Crazy Creek style chair) and far more comfort than higher chairs - the ability to lean back and stretch the legs forward provides a very relaxed position for your back, akin to the old "sling chair" styles of old, and at less weight. Improvements to Consider: (1) Weight could be saved (at a compromise in durability) with a lighter chair fabric; (2) Weight could be saved (at a compromise in durability, and higher cost) with carbon poles; (3) Performance could be enhanced (better comfort in warm conditions) by using mesh in the sitting and back area instead of solid fabrics. That said, these are minor issues not worth taking a star off the rating, because this is probably the most thoughtfully-designed chair on the market for weight-conscious backpackers who *need* sitting comfort for extended periods of time. But there's certainly opportunity to take this design into a premium model that shaves some weight. I could easily imagine a Cuben Fiber (CT11) chair fabric and carbon poles bringing this chair down in to the 12-14 ounce range. (Note: if you have creaky knees, you might think twice about using a chair this low to the ground, unless you get out of it by rolling over to your side a little rather than trying to stand up directly out of the chair, which creates acute angles at the knee joints!)

Best camp chair(I'm a real person btw)
This chair is so comfy it blew my mind. I'm 190lbs 5'11. Set up is really easy and required little to no effort strength wise. It's very light 1.2 lbs. a little wobbly if wiggle in it, but feels solid. Packs really small as well. Tried other Helinox chairs and this one is the most comfy as you can sit reclined or upright for cooking.could be Difficult to get in an out of if you're over 60 or have injuries, but it makes up for it in other ways. Will buy again 100%

Even better than Chair One
Though expensive, this chair is very comfortable, lightweight, and packable, fitting inside many day packs, including some larger lumbar packs. Compared to Chair One and the similar offering from REI, this chair is lower, with a taller back, allowing you to lean back more, and assume a much wider range of comfortable sitting positions -- from legs fully extended, all the way to knees drawn up tightly. It is also a bit stabler than Chair One, without the problem of the tips of the legs unevenly penetrating the ground. Setup is easy, and putting it away is not hard with a little practice. This is the fifth hiking/camping chair I've owned, and looks to be the best so far. Highly recommended.

Better than a sit pad!
The older I get the less I was liking my sit pad for backpacking, so I began entertaining the idea of a lightweight chair - which I could also use for motorcycle, sea kayak, and e-bike camping... I had been hesitant to drop this kind of cash though, and have always avoided the kitchy-trendy gear. However, on a recent backpack trip a friend had a Helinox Chair (One or Zero I believe), and another buddy had the REI branded chair of similar design. So I tested them both. Of the two, the Helinox chair felt more sturdy and secure, but both had the pointy legs that dug into the ground no matter what the weight of the user. So in my continued research I came across this Ground Chair and was immediately attracted to the leg/foot design. It also weighed a bit less than the Chair One, and packed down a hair smaller than both the One and Zero chairs. And for the cash savings over the gram savings vs. the Zero Chair...well, here we are! I was surprised at the quality of the seat material and how well it was sewn together, with particular attention paid to the reinforcement of the corner pockets (where the chair frame is inserted). Very impressive! I was also very pleased with the sturdiness of the frame tubing and the feet. The quality of these components is superior to that of other similar designed off branded chairs that I've seen. Which makes me feel like my money was well spent here. I'm about 5' 5" and feel very secure in this chair. No wobble side to side at all. And it is very easy to get in and out of - I just simply grasp the back of the chair to steady myself on the way down. Likewise, gripping the chair back to push myself up and out keeps the chair from tipping forward. Perfect! The semi reclined position is very comfortable whether sitting with knees up or legs outstretched. And the one thing I noticed about sitting with my legs outstretched is that the height of the chair is just right to prevent strain behind the knees! I can also sit upright in the chair for cooking or eating by semi folding my legs under. The height of the chair is perfect so that I can do this without any portion of my legs touching the dirt. The chair, with storage sack, weighs in at exactly 23 ounces as advertised. I'm sure I'll replace the included rubber band with a velcro strap later on, but the chair folds n' rolls up easily to fit back into the storage sack (sack weighs .7 oz on its own). And the whole thing fits perfectly in one of my backpack's side stretch pockets, and also fits easily in my motorcycle's saddlebags. So, goodbye old sit pad! There's a new sheriff in town!

I have only tried it in our house but I am impressed with its quality and how quickly it arrived. I think it will work well on the beach.

As my title states, they’re great chairs they pack really small. I’ve searched for and tried many cheaper alternatives with limited success before splashing out on a pair of these quite expensive chairs. The chairs are easy to assemble, dismantle and pack away but most importantly they bring a whole new level of comfort and luxury to our day walk picnics. Packing so small and weighing so little I can get a pair of these and our Coleman shelter (plus my video gear) in a 35 litre daypack. Only used once up to yet but build quality seems good, hopefully, at the price they are, it is. I may return with a long term review/comment
