Very good for the money
I bought this for my government teacher at school. It looks really nice and works OK, although the sound is sharper than I would like. It does mean that the sound carries better, though. I suggest putting some sort of pad, like a tissue or a paper towel or something, under the block to make the sound a bit better. Anyways, it looks great on my teacher's desk, and she says its probably the best student gift she's ever gotten. Great product for the price, don't recommend for professionals and judges, though, unless its just decoration.

It works but the quality is bad for new product
It works but the quality is bad, the metal gold color ring is large for the head so it looks loose always uncentered, has cracks in the wood and scratches and nicks on both ends of the gavel. Looks used and then refurbished poorly to be made to look new. I guess I got what I paid for considering it was shipped from LA. Very disappointed as I got it for someone and now it is embarrassing to give it to him.
