I bought this unit to make up for the shortcomings in both my TV (a 2022 model Samsung "The Frame" 55") and my Logitech Astro A50 X (has a 2-port HDMI 2.1 switch that is provably faulty, unfortunately). When I first received the BK-402A, it worked flawlessly with my Xbox Series X but not with my PlayStation 5. Unfortunately, the shipped firmward on my unit was not compatible/working with the PS5 and its strict HDCP 2.3 configuration. The unit refused to send a picture to my TV. Now comes what I think is the best part: OREI technical support. It is strictly via email but their team is responsive. There is a bit of a time lag but patience will bear positive results if you contact them. I explained my issue in detail, going so far as to buy a cheap-but-well-reviewed competitor switch (not matrix) device as well as replacing my HDMI 2.1 (UNCERTIFIED) cables with cables that have the HDMI.org certification tag on their packaging. With a full explanation provided, the OREI support team worked with their "technical team" and ultimately sent me a firmware upgrade that proved to be the solution! NOTE: The upgrade process does require a PC but is documented for easy processing As for the product itself: Metal casing = premium look-and-feel. Port options are plentiful. The 2-port output option might come in handy one day, which is why I opted for the matrix instead of a standard switch. Thank you, OREI team for producing an excellent product and then also proving that you really do stand behind your products with excellent technical support. I’ve been using the Orei BK402A HDMI Matrix Switch for about eight months now. After working through some initial setup challenges, I can confidently say this device performs well—especially if you’re running a mixed HDMI 2.0 / 2.1 setup like I am. My goal was to route my game consoles or PC either to my TV for audio/video or through my AVR while maintaining full 4K at 120Hz with HDR, VRR, and support for various surround sound formats. I reached out to Orei’s support team several months ago and stayed in contact with them while troubleshooting. They were responsive, helpful, and genuinely committed to resolving the issue. That level of customer service is rare and significantly improved my overall impression of the company. In the end, the HDMI handshake issues were resolved through a combination of HDMI firmware updates, using specific HDMI ports, and dialing in the correct power-on sequence.

Worked exactly as advertised for me. I have an older but arguably "best picture of any TV" huge Plasma TV and a more efficient small LED TV that we view from different perspectives in the house. Being energy conscious, I only use the Plasma when I watch a movie or special event such as the super bowl. Being a techie and knowing EXACTLY how much current the Plasma unit draws, (I measured it with a wattmeter as I did for all appliances and devices in my house) I do not run the Plasma often. I decided to run another TV as the primary source for evening shows, news, and bizarre showings at 6:00 O'clock and late night. (You know, political news...) However, I only have one cable box with the channels I like to watch. This switch directs the signal to the TV that's on automatically. It also will display both signals simultaneously. The super bowl was my first genuine experience with this splitter, I was watching it from two locations and this splitter did the job, it showed on both sets in high resolution. (I have not tried 4K, don't have this yet.) However, there was a definite delay between the two audio signals. Not sure if this was due to the splitter, the two different types of TV, or the cable box, but it was easily alleviated by turning the small TV volume down. So one may ask, why not just split the RF signal to two TV's by using the built in digital tuning of the TV? A cable signal is a digitally transmitted signal on a carrier and splitting the RF signal reduces the signal strength to both TV's. This may manifest itself as a picture that "breaks up" or freezes periodically, a result of weak digital signals. This requires a more expensive RF amplifier to bring the signal back to the proper level. And, it means the cable channel numbers and the broadcast channel numbers are different, some don't work, and more shortcomings. Splitting the HDMI signal and amplifying it (such as this box does) is generally less prone to this type of interference AND the cable channels all play with the same channel numbers displayed on the cable box. For you more advanced electronics people that understand RF transmission, cheap amplifiers typically have way to much noise figure to do this efficiently and the higher the frequency, the more difficult the design would be, the more expensive they would be. You would also need two cable boxes. I gave this 5 stars because it is built well, looks to be well shielded (EMI stuff) and works.

Works well as advertised. I ran into an issue where some other infrared remotes in my environment had similar codes and was controlling this device unintentionally. This caused the settings to change randomly so it didn't work to well in my environment for that reason. Otherwise it would be a good device for me. Email support was reasonable with 24 hour response times normally.

I’ve been running this OREI 4x2 matrix 24/7, and it has been a fantastic addition to my home entertainment and audio setup. The Pros: Saves Older High-End Receivers: The dual HDMI outputs are a lifesaver. If you have an older, high-end audio receiver that sounds amazing but lacks modern 4K/8K video passthrough capabilities, this matrix completely solves the problem. You can send the full 8K/4K video directly to your TV from one output, and send the audio separately to your receiver from the second output. Versatile Audio Extraction: The built-in audio extraction is a massive plus. It makes it incredibly easy to route your source audio out directly to an external audio mixer or dedicated sound system without any hassle. Runs Cool 24/7: I leave this unit powered on constantly. Even with 24/7 operation, it doesn't heat up at all, which speaks volumes about the build quality. The One Drawback: Occasional Handshake Issues: Because I leave the matrix on all the time, but my TV and receiver get shut down regularly, the HDMI handshake can occasionally get confused. Every once in a while, it requires a quick power cycle (shut down and restart) to get the signal back in sync. Verdict: Aside from the occasional handshake reset, this box does exactly what it promises. It bridges the gap between next-gen video and high-end audio gear perfectly. Highly recommended if you have a mixed-generation setup!

Works exactly as expected. I can play the same thing from my 1080p Chromecast on two HD 1080p TV's no problem. Nowy roommate and I can watch movies together while in different rooms, so I don't have to look at him. His face is scary. He looks like one of the bad guys from Wes Cravens movie The Hills Have Eyes.

Device worked for about a week and then caused a motherboard hang. After a reboot I was experiencing monitor flashing. I attempted to reboot into bios but flashing was occurring every few seconds and I couldn't check bios for any settings problems. I removed the splitter and the flashing was gone. AI recommended throwing the cheap splitter away and not replacing it as it probably was shorting my 5V supply line interfering with my HDMI and UPS backup USB port monitoring. The UPS had attempted a shutdown and the mother board shut of power but could not reset properly and hung because the 5V supply was in a bad state requiring a power cycle. AI warn that it could cause motherboard 5V PCB traces to overheat and burn preventing any thing requiring 5V to permanently stop working(USB,HDMI...) I didn't want to take chance and bought an inexpensive multiple HDMI PCIE card and cloned with windows to effectively make a HDMI splitter.

Perfect, lag free and even the audio is perfectly synced. Exactly what I needed

I’ve been finding a splitter for my streams since my monitor only has 1 HDMI port and this works amazing! I plugged in my ps 4 into the input and split the output to my monitor + laptop for OBS and it works amazing!!!
