The cons: The sounds are pretty dated (but so are the songs we play) and there's no way to back up any edits you make. You can save them to the device itself but it doesn't seem possible to backup the patches. I think factory reset is all you have. If you do edit a patch and want to save it you have to overwrite a pre-set which isn't ideal in my opinion. Despite being able to almost fully control this unit via MIDI, haven't yet found a midi #cc to control the 'variation' parameter. If this were possible I would be able to call a specific pre-set patch and variation and tweak the parameters instantly via midi instructions coded into the button press so all the info for my custom settings would be backed up on the DX-100. Another disappointment is the lack of a PC interface which would be very handy for setting up custom sounds. The Pros: No special pickup required so I can use any guitar. It's just another pedal in my chain. Having previously struggled to be happy with the GR-55 that's huge plus in my book. There's lots of useable sounds pre loaded and tweaking them is easy. The 'hold' feature is cool as is the ability to set a limited number of patches to scroll through with the foot switches forwards and/or backwards. Very sturdy construction and intuitive menus. Oh, and no special pickup required! I think this was worth the money for the rotary organ sound and the absence of a special pickup alone. I am really just using this like an expander. It is in the effects loop of my GX-100 and I control it from the GX-100 via midi. I don't have to touch the SY-200 itself at all. I use it to add organ and string effects in parts of songs where what I'm playing would work with the synth as well as my normal guitar sound. Occasionally I use just the synth. Starting holiday camp sets with 'I do like to be beside the Seaside' played on a guitar that sounds like a lovely, rich rotary organ is a lot of fun!

Absolutely love this pedal, especially the arpeggiator settings. The sounds you can get from it are amazing.

The big question is was it worth the money? I'm not sure. It was much better performing than the type with a special pickup but the sounds are of limited use. Much better when put through some reverb - sounds are quite basic but could work if trying to get song ideas. All on all its ok. If I'm at home I will use my keyboard most of the time, if I was playing live I wouldn't use it as I'm not sure how a live rig would cope with it. It's fairly easy to use and has a pretty good build quality. It is annoying that they don't give you a power supply at this price.

I wanted to like this... It doesn't sit well with my Headrush Fx. Tried it combined and on its own. Some good usable sounds but not really 171 sounds as they are just variations on some core sounds. Some sounds are wholly unusable to me. But, depending on your playing and what you want this will vary player to player. It sounds really 'cold' to me and it has, contrary to other reviews and YouTube videos, mistracked on some chord sequences and sounded off slightly. Not by a lot but enough to be unusable. I could've kept it and messed around with it more but it's not fitting with what I'm doing. The closest I've come is with an Electro Harmonix synth pedal which is very organic and warmer but doesn't track very well at all. I just can't warrant the outlay for something I won't use much. Feel a bit cheated by you tube imfluencers lying how good it is. I appreciate I may not have got grips with it properly but it's just more 'f***ing' around and not playing and getting my music done. So, I'm returning it as I feel it's a bit oversold by Boss and 'Influencers'. I really recommend trying one before buying. On a plus, build quality is of Boss' usual high standard. Not a fan of the chromed knobs though. Beware, no psa included.

The tracking on this is insane! The sounds are good too, but it's one of those pedals you need to put time and thought into. Lots of options and expansion possibilities, for example using as a midi controller. Expression pedals, adding external delays, dedicated effects loops etc. I'm a bass player who needs string parts and synth bass. This renders my octave pedal useless really. Do your research it's not for everyone, but it's a game changer for many!

Wanted a guitar synth for a few years finally took the plunge and purchased the SY 200 excellent if you are looking for that certain sound well worth the money

Wasn’t impressed with the sounds. I’d watched lots of reviews on YouTube and decided this was the one to go for but I just couldn’t get the sounds I wanted. Lots of sounds but all a variation on a typical synth sound. Was hoping for a nice orchestral string sound but just couldn’t achieve it so item being returned.

Un peu cher mais c'est du BOSS. Je commence à apprivoiser cette pedale que j'ai mis en 2 ème canal parallele à ma pédale board. Elle assure un arriere plan sonore en étant jumelée séparement avec un son clair ou leger fuzz . Attention je conseille d'affecter une alimentation 9V DC unique et séparée d'un groupe d'alim pour pédale board car cela créé des parasites sonores qui sont "synthetisés".

正直なところ、ギターシンセサイザーと言うカテゴリは全く興味は無かったんです。 昔はシンセサイザーが好きで、40年位前のローランドのD20と言うシンセサイザーヤマハDX7は持っていたんです。 ベンチャーズのギター楽曲をやりたくて30年ぶりに再会集結参加したアマチュア愛好会バンドから、次はトトの子供達の凱旋って曲やりたいとかスクエアやりたいとかから、キーボードに変わって欲しいと要求があり、キーボードはもう何年も触っていないし、機材も古いし、ひとり凄腕キーボード居るし、一曲の為に持ち物も増えて、移動が面倒だし、何より僕はベンチャーズのようなギター曲を弾きたい、ベンチャーズ風にギター曲にアレンジすりゃイイじゃんって思うのだけれど、理解されずか？キーボードの音やツインキーボードという機材に囲まれた見た目スタイルを求められている？からか、けれど、僕は今はキーボードを今はやりたくない、弾きたくない、という差し迫りから、購入してみました。 良かった点 面白い機材です、何よりコンパクトですね ギターを弾いて反応が良いし、安い 40年前では考えられない技術の進化を感じます。 SY1とかムーアE7とかもYouTube観ながら音をチェック候補にしました。 ピアノやバイオリンみたいな生楽器を模したPCM音は出ません。 ローランドの系のシンセサイザーの音って感じ。アナログを模した音かな。 普段はケーブルとアンプとギターの直挿しなんですが、これを通すと、ギターのバイパスした音が格段にノイズが無くなりました。 直感的に使いやすいです。 個人的にはギターメインの音にちょっとだけ足してあげる使い方が好きになってます。 残念な点 仕事から帰宅して、ご飯食べて19時くらいから弾き始めて22時にバッテリーダウンになりました。 保つ方と言えば保つほうですね。 昨今usb給電できる仕掛けだったらかなり重宝します。 アダプターと単三しか使えないのは残念です。 アタックを直感的にいじれないのはムーアE7にすればよかったかなぁ？と後悔しています。 見つけられないだけかもしれません。いくつかのプリセットやストリングスやパッド系の中から、自分が必要なアタックを選んで音色を変えるしかないのかな。 商品自体はとても面白いです。技術の進化を感じます。 商品とは関係ないが、正直なところ、ギターメインのベンチャーズのような心地よいアンプ直挿しのようなシンプルなギターの音色が好きなので、アマチュア愛好会バンドの方向性が戻って欲しい。そうするとフレーズの練習あるのみで、機材に無駄な知識や投資しなくて済む。

4 stelle solo per la tirchiaggine Boss sull'alimentatore (optional) e l'uscita mono. Per il resto è sorprendente e di ottima fattura. Assorbe intorno ai 250mA, quindi suggerisco di provare anche alimentatore che già avete in pedalboard. Avrete l'imbarazzo della scelta nei suoni e pure i comandi midi... Un must have se amate i Muse!

Zuerst war ich skeptisch und dachte: nicht viel für das Geld, doch dann hab ich angefangen mit Parametern zu spielen und hab noch ein Multieffekt vorgeschaltet. Der Hammer, was man für Sounds erzeugen kann. Ich freue mich auf die nächsten Wochen und werde weiter "fummeln" Klare Kaufempfehlung für alle, die z.B in der Band den musikalischen Hintergrund fett auffüllen möchten.
