This Mexican rebozo is made using non-stretch 100% cotton thread. The finished fabric is very soft, flexible (no need to break it in), breathable, lightweight and sturdy. Rebozos have long been used in Mexico as a piece of clothing and as an aid in natural birth traditions, including doula massage, childbirth, labor, belly binding, rebozo manteada, postpartum traditions and closing the bones ceremonies. They are also used by doulas, midwives and other birth workers as part of birth support practices. It is a versatile piece that may also be used as a clothing accessory: shawl, pashmina-style wrap, blanket scarf or pareo; for home decor: table runner, tapestry, wall hanging, table cover or bed throw; and for indoor or outdoor activities: yoga rug, prayer or meditation mat, picnic mat, beach mat, play mat and more. Because of the textile production process, minor weaving knots, pulls or other small inconsistencies may occur. Slight variations in dimensions and color may also occur between pieces and thread batches. Screen settings may affect how colors appear. These variations are part of the character of each Mexican rebozo. A mild textile scent may be noticeable when first opened. Airing the rebozo before use is recommended.
