Better than I thought it would be. Looks great and is sturdy. Good price for this table.

I love this chess table! My only concern is it had some of the finish scratched. Is there a furniture pen you could send me to try and fix the places where it scratched while in shipment?

To say that you get your money's worth is pale in description when reviewing this table. Everything fitted together like the blocks of stone that built the pyramids of Geza... Need I say more...? I shouldn't have to but I'm so pleased with this table I think I need to.. The wood is a beautiful color and gives the table a look of elegance. If you didn't buy a set of pieces that only could have been hand carved you would be doing this table a true injustices as well as yourself, because you will be kicking yourself for not doing so... I promise you, you will be very pleased when you unpack and assemble this table together for yourself or as a gift for someone you love...!

I would give this item a 5 except for two small blemishes that I found after I assembled it. (photo) I was going to send it back but I like it SO MUCH that I decided to keep it, so I covered them in w/a furniture Sharpie. Otherwise, this Chess table is VERY SOLID, heavy and well made! It would be nice to have a stop for the drawers (they fall out if you're not careful) but the board is NICE and well worth the $110 I spent on it! The instructions were not very clear but I figured it out. I've played chess for almost 65 years and this table has a place of honor in my living room! (photos)

It is a Beautiful piece of furniture. Easy to assemble. The squares are not 2.25# though they are 2". Not a big deal though, I'll just scale my models down to fit properly when I print them.

Lovely table. I am not a handy person at all but it was very easy to put together. I actually bought the same table years ago on another website. I spilled something on it that took off the varnish. I loved the table so much that I looked for it and found it on Amazon for a little less than I originally paid. I would highly recommend this table to others.

Needed a chess table that matched our piano room. Shopped for a long time trying to get the best bang for the dollar and finally settled on this one. First one that arrived was scratched up and had a significant chunk of wood broken off from the bottom of the stem where it attaches to the base. Thankfully they were cool about the request for exchange and they sent me a new one. New one was less banged up, but still had 3 fairly visible and significant scratches. However, we decided it would be good enough to enjoy with the kids. Size and squares match description and fit the chess set I purchased separately quite well. The pull out storage drawers should be rotated 90 degrees so that the "white on right" rule of placement would have drawers open into your lap and not to your side. Gets the job done. Price is adequate. They should have higher standards of quality when constructing.

first off this is not a $500 chess table. don't expect oak wood and craftsmanship painting. it actually looks really nice for being made in china. it was super easy to put together. all you need is a Philips head screwdriver. they supply an allen wrench. the drawers have a satisfying wood on wood drag to them when you move them. they are deep enough to hold a 1 7/8" diameter (max, I measured) chess piece on it's side. plenty tall enough. I would highly suggest getting a chess set with a king 3 1/2" - 3 3/4". the squares are 2 inch. I purchased a set that was 3.6" and I couldn't be happier. house of chess sells a rosewood and boxwood set for a decent price on their website. amazing detail by the way. fyi this is a big table. take measurements before you buy.

Mooie schaaktafel met extra groot schaakvlak, elk vakje ca.5x5 cm. Schaakstukken 3,7inch passen er goed bij. Tafel is makkelijk te monteren, en ook belangrijk: was degelijk ingepakt en daardoor schadevrij ontvangen! Eerlijk gezegd had ik wel mijn twijfels na het lezen van de negatieve recensies, maar ik vermoed dat de fabriek ervan heeft geleerd.
