There isn't much fluff in this book; it's packed with facts. This is the place to look for the history of the Friesian breed, foundation sires and their offspring, what to look for if you're thinking about buying a Friesian, explanations of the Dutch terms used in evaluating the breed, the "rules of Friesian ownership" implemented to perpetuate the pure breed, even examples of the forms used. I found The Friesian Horse to be a very good resource.

My only disappointment with this book was that the photos inside were all black and white. The book is an excellent reference book for anyone who has an interest in these majestic horses. The breed history from origination to present is documented very well. There are not many books about this breed and this one is a MUST read. I understand the author is writing a second book about Friesians and I can't wait to read it.

I was disappointed immediately upon opening the package. This "book" looks like a workbook from grade school. It's cheap and flimsy and large. I included a picture of a standard book vs this "workbook." The book is 50 pages, most of which are filled with charts and diagrams. It literally took me 20 minutes to read the whole thing, and I read slow. I was really hoping the author would go in depth about the traits and characteristics of the Friesian horse, but, basically she just says they like people and water. I think the only people this book would appeal to is someone wanting diagrams of the pedigree of this breed. For others, looking for the "definitive" account of the Friesian horse, you will be disappointed. There is nothing in this book that you can't find online, and to make it worse, it's not even a "nice" book that you would want to put on your bookshelves or coffee table. I'll be throwing mine away. I do NOT recommend this book.

worth the extra wait to get it. loaded with info and beautiful pictures. you can see easily if this is the horse breed for you.

Paper feels cheap… very washed out print… Pictures are very dark… this book is about Friesian horses… which are BLACK… see the problem. Very disappointed… wanted to give this to my niece, who is Friesian crazy… instead … I’m gonna show her the “book” and tell her she can have it if she wants it. If she doesn’t… I may just get a bird… lol

I bought this as a birthday present and when it arrived the version i was sent is photocopied. Its hard to comment on quality of the real book as some of the pages are hard to read and photos are blurred.

Very disappointed, not worth the money, no useful information given in this book. I would not recommend anyone buying this book if they want to learn more about the Friesian horse.
