Got this to replace our 16 year old chlorinator that we had installed when we got the pool. We already had the filter and motor replaced a few years back they went out much earlier but the chlorinator we had which was the same exact one as this, lasted the whole time and lasted longer than anything in the filter system! So I can say it’s definitely a good purchase and it’s definitely worth paying the extra 50 bucks for the name brand! It’s works like a charm and clears up a 30,000 gal 9ft pool quickly and with ease! And that’s just with the chlorine tabs without any shock or any other chemical. I got it installed by a family friend that works for a pool store so that definitely saved me the headache of installing it myself or asking my husband to do it. But he did it super quick so I think it was a pretty easy install! Fit perfectly since we had the same exact model previously.

I finally refused to shell out money for another mineral pac and $30 chlorine cartridges. The install on this unit was fairly easy as I don't have a heater and a complicated PVC setup. I was able to reuse the fittings from old chlorinator just having to remove old Teflon tape from them (you tube to the rescue). They fit perfectly saving me a few bucks from purchasing new ones. I will update after the pool is open on performance. Update 6/21 Opened pool this thing worked like a champ . No leaks my filter pump is noticeably quieter. Recommended Update 9/25 Pool closed No problems whatsoever with algae blooms. Pretty much this performed flawlessly all summer no leaks or problems removing cover. I think they may have redesigned the cover lid. Just had to press down release button and screw off lid once it passed the release it was minimal effort. I never used the lid tool I purchased with it once. That may change next year. I unscrew the pressure knob on the filter cover before I remove the lid so to allow some water to escape seems to help when I unscrew the lid. Performance after the first year was flawless as it kept my water crystal clear. Should have bought this years ago. Highly recommended.

I purchased this chlorinator as a replacement. The original that I had, required the cap to be screwed on very tight to seal it. After 4 years of use, the plastic cap became cracked from being over tightened. I tried to find a new cap and even contacted Hayward to find the cap was no longer available since they had changed the design. Honestly, being a bit pissed off, I purchased this new unit. When it arrived, I found first off, the tablet holding area was very much larger which will make loading a lot easier. The cap was redesigned and is now "dummy proof" to prevent from over-tightening. I wish I would have bought this a long time ago. Note For Pool Owners......... I load my chlorinator every week or so I have my filter on a timer to run 12 hours a day. by using the chlorinator, last year, I never once needed any other chemicals other than chlorine. Water stayed crystal clear and never used a drop of algecide or anything else. I HIGHLY recommend using one of these !!!

These Hayward chlorinators work well for several years then they gunk up and you have to buy a new one.

This replacement all started because the flow control knobs gasket started to leak. The cost to replace the knob and gasket cost ~$10, the issue was the removal and installation. Since we are selling the house I didn't want to mess with the pool, I needed a quick simple solution. So I decided to buy a new unit. I disconnected old unit and waited for the new until. It came in 3 days, I unpacked and gave a look over. I did notice the lid had a locking tab, the old unit had one but is was broken off. I installed the unit and did a quick pressure check be for I loaded it with tablets. All was fine and no leaks. Here is the fun part, I drained the lines. I pushed in the tab under the lid and with incredible ease i spun the lid off. I had to buy a locking lid device to remove and tighten the lid on the old unit and always had leaks. I tossed the lid wrench that day. When I finished adding the tablets I spun the lid on until I heard it click. No more stress about load new tablets and leaks. I turned on the pump and pressurized the system. NO LEAKS 🥳. The cost far outweighed the ease of adding tablets and not worrying about leak, I should have replaced this unit years ago.

We bought this feeder for our 24 ft. above ground pool. It installed easily inline to our filter return hose using readily available fittings. I mounted it on cinder blocks at water level with a check valve on the input side and a shutoff on the output side. This arrangement ensures that the feeder will always fill to the top when the filter is running and makes it easy to add chlorine tablets without the unit overflowing when the lid is removed.. Noting other reviewer complaints about difficulty opening the unit, I generously coated the O ring gasket with pool / spa lubricant and only tightened the lid enough to prevent leakage. I also formed a wooden wrench (as others have done) to ease in releasing the lid. Once running, it only took a few days to find the optimal setting to maintain the chlorine at the proper level. Hayward makes high quality pool equipment and this unit is very easy and economical to use. If you sanitize your pool with chlorine, TriChlor tablets are the best value by far. For years I have been mixing granular chlorine in gallon jugs and pouring it in the pool every night. What a pain! This is so much easier and now I can get rid of all those empty jugs. I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner!

Not a lot of info on this unit anywhere so I will share what I learned from buying this unit. First off for whatever reason that is a black and white picture of the unit, it is actually the same color scheme as the hayward 900 filter holder which was a big deal to me cause I redid my entire pool system and wanted everything to look uniform. Second, the unit comes with the mounting base that IS removable! I spent forever lookin for the unit without the mounting base because I wasnt planning on mounting it, I finally gave up and ordered this one and when I received it realized the mounting base was removable. That was a big deal to me because I didn't want the mounting base floating in the air looking like I'm skipping a step not mounting it, underneath the mounting base has kind of a sleek design making it look it was designed not to be mounted( it was designed for either application). Third, I read a lot of scary things of this unit blowin up or when opened blasts a deadly amount of chlorine in your face, I believe those things happened due to user error. The first thing I do is open c900 filter top or using air vent to relieve pressure on filter holder(no vent on chlorinator,maybe they should have one?), that way there's no pressure built up in the chlorinator then the lid can safely be removed without even a smell of chlorine being noticeable which was a huge relief because I was terrified of it at first. Fourth, you can put as many dissolving tablets in there as you can fit just make sure you use the same tablets don't mix ever because that can cause chemical reaction and potentially blow up(that goes back to the user error section) buy one brand and stick with them. Theres not tray or holder you just simply drop them in. Fifth, screwing and unscrewing the lid could not be any easier, there's a tab you press in and then spin the top to unscrew, when screwing back on keep screwing down until the tab clicks back into place( I was a little skeptical at how easy it was and was concerned I did something wrong, it was just that easy). I have a 15000 gallon pool 15'x30' pretty standard size pool and I keep my chlorinator on level 3. It's been about a week and I went through 3 tabs already. All in all this is a way better alternative then placing tabs in skimmer or floaty thing you have to fish out when you wanna check the tabs. This is an ABSOLUTE must have on ANY pool system there is no better way to chlorinate your pool. I hope this was helpful as these were ALL the questions I could not find an answer to before I made this purchase.

Fantastic product! It solved my long lasting pool problem. This unit helped me not only to get rid of algae surprises but also it makes the water shiny and clear if proper chlorine pocks are purchased

I was able to replace the chlorinator myself. It worked right away. The price was similar to pool shops and no cost for delivery so even better for me.

The item was perfect except my hook ups were different and I couldn’t use the item.

It is just the chlorine dispenser. You need to get the fittings

Been using for 1 month. Works well. Much better than the smaller chlorinator I had before.
