How do you go about deicing the padlock during freezing temperatures?

The padlock is accessible from the bottom if you want to heat it or spray an antifreeze application into it. But the moisture has stayed out of my locks since it covers the lock.

How long does the lock have to be?

Do you remember the old style bicycle locks were the shank was 8 inches long or more that I can go through the spokes and the frame of the bike. That’s the kind of lock you need for this particular device.
