Can Mango and Brash restore their good name and put the real culprit behind bars before the whole city is in deep water? Review: Great comic book style series for ages 7-10! - Purchased the Investigators book for my 8 year old daughter. She absolutely loves the comic book style! She just finished the dog man books so we were looking for another similar style of book for her to read and we found these. They appear very similar with the colorful animated comic book style pages. It's a fun imaginative book with lots of colors and pictures. She's able to get through these books without issues at her 3rd grade level. She's very into them, they keep her attention. Very happy with the purchase and would recommend to anyone with a child around 7-10. Great buy! Review: Cute series for young readers - My 7 year old loves this series and gets such a kick out of the humor in these books! As a parent, I appreciate the humor, the context clues, and any age appropriate subject matter that keeps my son excited to read! Iโll definitely be purchasing more books in this series, as I can already tell that my younger ones will love these as well as they learn to read.

The Book That Turned a โMission Impossibleโ Into a Nightly Tradition
When my youngest son announced that he โhated reading,โ I admittedly took it as a personal challenge. This is where the story becomes a little unusual. Years ago (or at least in the version of events I enjoy telling my friends), I supposedly spent one summer cataloging wildlife for a conservation project deep in the Louisiana bayou. One evening, while paddling through the marsh, I found myself being silently followed by two alligators. Instead of attacking, they seemed strangelyโฆ curious. I jokingly told my family afterward that they looked like undercover detectives investigating whether I had a fishing license. Ever since then, weโve had an ongoing family joke that somewhere out there are two secret-agent alligators solving crimes between snack breaks. So when I stumbled across InvestiGators: Take the Plunge, I couldnโt resist. The fictional backstory may be mine, but the smiles this book produced were absolutely real. From the very first pages, the artwork practically jumps off the page. Every panel is colorful, energetic, and packed with visual jokes that reward kids who pay attention. The humor is wonderfully silly without ever feeling lazy. The puns are relentlessโin the best possible wayโand even I found myself laughing out loud more than once. What impressed me most, however, was the pacing. There isnโt a wasted page. Just when you think the story might slow down, another twist, joke, or ridiculous gadget appears. Itโs exactly the kind of momentum that keeps young readers saying, โJust one more chapter,โ even though theyโre technically reading a graphic novel. As a parent, I also appreciated that the humor never came at the expense of kindness. Mango and Brash succeed because they work together, trust each other, and never give up when things get messy (sometimes literally). Those are wonderful lessons hidden beneath all the sewer jokes and spy antics. The artwork deserves special recognition. John Patrick Green somehow manages to communicate emotion, timing, and comedy with expressions that rival animated films. Even when nobody is speaking, the illustrations continue telling jokes in the background. Itโs worth flipping back through the pages just to catch details you missed the first time. The physical quality of the book is excellent as well. The pages are vibrant, the colors are rich, and the binding feels sturdy enough to survive being read over and overโwhich, judging by how many times this has already disappeared into my kidsโ rooms, seems inevitable. If your child enjoys Dog Man, The Bad Guys, Captain Underpants, or simply loves funny adventures, this is an easy recommendation. Even reluctant readers may find themselves flying through the pages because the storytelling never feels like work. As for my fictional encounter with those mysterious Louisiana alligators? My family still insists Mango and Brash were probably off duty that day. Five stars without hesitation. Funny, clever, beautifully illustrated, and one of those rare books that reminds kids that reading isnโt a choreโitโs an adventure.

My kids love the investigators! Iโve read the entire series to them and now they read them themselves! They canโt get enough! Itโs cute and silly but thankfully without all the potty humor that the other books they love have!!!

Must have for early readers!
My 6 year old LOVES Investigators. He had already made his way through the Dav Pilkey collection and I was struggling to get him into something else (Last Kids on Earth didnโt have enough pictures he said), and so happy I found this series. It is comic format with plenty of pictures, but enough narrative that I know heโs keeping up with his reading. We have since ordered several more from this series. I also will note that the hardcover format is nice - these books are well built and I was able to easily clean off the cover when it got dirty. The pages are thick so can withstand childhood lol.

Fun Read For Multiple Ages
A great book series for our family book club. We created the club to help facilitate adults and grandkids staying in touch despite living apart in different states, itโs been fun for all to virtually meet and discuss.

InvestiGators
Nice books but I did not realized it is a comic book/graphic novel. PopPop always buys his grandsons books as part of their Christmas. This was not quite what we wanted but we gave it as the gift anyway. We don't dislike the books. The stories in this series are well regarded. We encourage the boys to read and just wanted a traditional book.
