This Yost pipe vise is great. After a little bit of use for cutting and threading iron pipe from 1/2" up to 1 1/4" it has performed well. Actually, I don't believe any pipe has slipped in its grip once on me. The price was a little up there, but these aren't really all that common, and it seems to be built quite well. I am happy with the vise and would buy it again.

Mounted to bumper on service truck. Convenient and out of the way, don’t have to drag anything out of the bed, has held up to 6” sch10 x 21’. The weak link is eventually the nub that holds the chain will fatigue, there is a perfect spot to drill an tap a bolt into vise by the nub to keep the vise going. At this price you can’t beat it and it takes a beating being used for more then it was designed for.

Great alternative to more expensive chain vises, although made in China. Good quality, sturdy and very heavy duty chain.

The vise itself is very sturdy and holds galvanized pipe very well. The handle falls out even when turning very slow and without any pressure applied. I ordered the new handle and chain kit which I thought would be a tighter fit and wouldn't let the handle fall out, but that was not the case. So I chose to use channel locks to lock it down which doesn't take too much tension at all and I have a spare chain and threading nut if my channel locks ruin the existing one.

All right I'm going to give a good review on this chain vice even though it broke on me two times . I'm a pipe fitter it use this thing every day from 12 inch to 3/4 inch pipe it is only made for 6 inch pipe and smaller .but this is the real world so the first time it broke on me was this chain this is easy to take a part to work on it and get back to work . I love that it only cost me about 100 dollars for this chain vice my old chain vice was 450 dollars . The chain will some time come a part the pins will come out after very heavy use what I did just tack weld them back that will solve this problem forever so as a pipe fitter this is a great product I like the one I got

First, bench is solid and seemed well made. Chain, vise, grips and handle all appeared in good order when received. I had not read comments prior to purchasing. I selected this based on overall review score, and it was the middle of the road in terms of cost. I wanted something that would cover my needs on the smaller diameter piping (1/2” & 3/4”, 1” and 1-1/4”) with the occasional 3” to 4” for fixturing and/or securing of material off a truck hitch. This seems to do fine at 1-1/4”, I did not try 1”. 1/2” after tightening down the vise on A53 Grade A gas piping, there was simply not enough bite in the grip teeth. When using a manual threader the pipe would rotate and essentially cut a groove under the chain. Attempting to tighten further placed a crimp that is visible and able to feel a lip from the inside when the area was cut out. Was impressed with the chain strength but the product is not what was advertised, at least in terms of the compatible size ranges. I am returning and purchased the one I should have initially. If you need something for holding in place and don’t intend to place the torque you’d expect while threading, this is probably a good value. I’d like to give this more than one star but not being able to use on either 1/2” and 3/4” pipe is difficult to go higher.

Quality is as good as rigid brand. Cost is much more reasonable for home owner. Very surprised at quality vs price. Mounted on my service truck and it gets the job done.

Well built item and holds a 3” shaft very solid while setting bearings on it

Have not used the vise yet but it looks well built and the same as a Ridget pipe vise.

Worked great. I used it to cut 1/2 inch black pipe with a sawsall. It was as stable as the table.

bought 2 of these, first one lasted quite a while with no problems. then finally it failed, 2nd one i got about 60 seconds use out of it before it failed the same way the first one did
