Alright, I know what you're thinking. Mancave addition, this guy can't be serious..Yes Indeed I am 120% Serious. In fact I am so serious I had to buy another one of these off Ebay so I could piece the two together to make it bigger. I get my 3 buddies together on weekends and we have some drinks while playing. I've honestly got every bot that's been created to this date and it's a load of chaos. The entire time we'll be screaming and smashing into each other to play for things like shots or even watches that we bring. The two bots that come with the arena are quite impressive. The Build your own bot isn't the best by any means but if you actually get into these hexbugs- look at some more of the BYOBs they offer to increase your playability with friends. I have 4 Custom bots along with all the attachments. It is honestly refreshing to have the capabilities of swapping out weapons and armor just to enjoy the same machine in a different form. I honestly can't recomend this purchase enough for guys who have 1-3 friends who are just looking for a reason to drink or shout.

My 9 year old son wanted an arena to use the Battlebots he already had. We struggled with them on our kitchen floor because we have pets (and dust) household debris would get into the motors and very easily make them stop. With the arena, we're able to use the bots in a different spot in our house and more reliably keep them from encountering the stuff that gunks them up.The two Battlebots that it comes with are pretty fun ones. We've found that these battery operated ones seem to work a little better than the rechargeable ones that are sold separately, so that was a plus for this set.The spinning gear thing on one side is fun and adds some playful drama to your bot fights. Having them containted to the arena instead of all over a larger floor makes it less frustrating as an adult and easier to actually get them to hit each other.My one criticism is that the hammers break kind of easily. My son was enthusiastically hitting my bot with one of the hammers and I guess he hit it a little too hard and the piece on the inside broke, so the hammer doesn't work anymore. Glue wouldn't hold it together, so I guess we hav to live it it.It's quite pricey for what it is, but if that doesn't bother you, it's a fun addition for your aspiring robotics master.

Huge win for the kids for Christmas! The love it and have a blast with it!

Bought this for my sons b-day along with some other bots on the side. Like most it seemed like the perfect gift for him and his young siblings to enjoy together. After reading the reviews and having good luck with “hexbug” in the past I felt comfortable dropping $200+ on this and related products to go with it… Couldn’t have been more disappointed from the moment I set everything up. The cars constantly lose signal with the tiny remotes that boast a 1m-2m range.. which should be more than enough, but it simply doesn’t work. Kids became frustrated and uninterested after constantly having to pair the cars back to the remotes only to have them not work again a few moments later. After doing some research it appears it’s a common issue that may be fixed “possibly” by buying all new LR44 batteries for the vehicles.. which I’ve done now and am waiting for them in the mail.. After contacting “hex bug support” they more less blew me off and said to make sure I was on the right channel and try again.. Really!? Not even an offer to cover the replacement batteries I just bought from their website, or any other offer to remedy the situation. Unfortunate that they decided to go cheap on this set and mark up the price. Sad to say, this gift was a big let down in my house.

Very fun! The robots that come with this set are double A battery operated, and they STINK! Do yourself a favor and get the platinum battle bots, they are rechargeable and much more powerful. The robots do have a small reaction delay due to the conroller connection probably having too small of an antenna. These robots really fall apart but have magnetic connections to rebuild and destroy again, the kids are having a blast! The only thing that could make it better is if HexBug gives more platinum battlebot options and upgraded contoller option because it could be better.
