Ben a fan since 2003
I’ve had this book since I was in college; I wanted the most updated version because the first was just so helpful to me in undergrad, and now in grad school & as a teacher I require it as mandatory for my classes!

Best gift!
Buying this for my students was wonderful! I’m so glad that I was able to get all comma with the same color. I can’t wait to distribute these for Christmas. I hope it sparks a love for Ballet that they already have but needs to support them and set them up for success the way it did me.

Concise information
Over all good dictionary. The pictures used to demonstrate body positioning were at times hard to understand the proper leg position and more detailed info on what “sets” of motion you need to practice if you to actually start conditioning the body. It’s a good guide as I look up videos to know what to look for.

Granddaughter Loves It
A gift for one of my teen grandchildren, who has taken ballet lessons for about 10 years.

Dancers of all stripes benefit from this book!
Grant's book is invaluable for EVERY dancer, not only for ballet. The explanations are well-written, concise, and useful. It is easy and enjoyable to read. It make the French terminology of ballet accessible to everyone. It is valuable for the new dancer of ANY age, AND it is used as a resource by many very experienced teachers.

Excellent
This book has been the standard bearer in the ballet world for years. The author, Gail Grant operated her ballet school here in Toledo, Ohio. 😊

Pour un francophone, c'est peut-être inutile puisque le vocabulaire de la danse est déjà composé majoritairement de français. Cela reste un lexique très bien fait.

I love books about ballet. Opposite to a real teacher, I need to see the axis of the body, where the feet go, etc. I also have great streaming videos by Mary Helen Bowers (I can only recommend them). But as I was saying, I need clear schematics. Along with them I also need to be able to try out the poses at a ridiculously slow tempo. For me it's necessary, because it allows me to really go deep into the movement. Definitely worth every single penny ⚙️

Es un libro técnico, puro y duro, con una calidad bastante de fotocopia, que no ayuda mucho a entender las posiciones ya que sólo consta de definiciones técnicas, sin ilustraciones It's a very technical book, and the quality is quite photocopy, it doesn't help to understand positions, just technical definitions without illustrations

The ideal addition to the dance library

Nice information in this book, clear positioning of feet and arms and the required names to each movement
