Great Gift for Mom
I bought this for my mom when I got engaged. She really loves it. There is a lot of information in there she has found useful. Only complaint is that some of the information seems a bit outdated.

Not as informative as expected
I expected lists and tips. Instead it reads like a story or narrative

Recommend
Bought this book for my mother when I got engaged. She's stuck in the olden-days, so needed to bring her up-to-date on the times now. Book was very useful to her... although some points weren't "modernized" and made it difficult to steer her away from. Overall I'd recommend the book and say it was a good help to her.

Good etiquette advice, but otherwise impractical
I purchased this book for my mother shortly after my engagement. The book is well-written and easy to navigate and read. For what it is and the price, it is a decent purchase. What this book does right is etiquette. It has great advice to make sure that you stay on Emily Post's good side without becoming too overwhelmed with all the wedding morays. What this book does poorly is assume you're throwing a $50,000 fete and that all your friends are dying to be your assistants. It's advice about the affair-itself can be a bit overblown. If you're having a very high-end function or are a person of means, please consult this book until the binding tears. But, if you, like me, are having an elegant event on a realistic budget with friends who have realistic schedules, then this book will be underused.

Mother's Wedding Help!
I bought this book for my mom just as a fun gift but it has some really great ideas from traditional to modern views about the mothers role in her daughter's wedding. This has helped my mom in many ways as I am her first and only daughter to get married. She has come to me with many great ideas.I hope this book assists others as much as it has assisted us.

Gift idea
Great gift for my mom. Can’t guarantee she will read it but the few pages I read were kind of funny.

Outdated
While there is good info, I was surprised that this book was written in 2006! So much has changed since then with social media, e-vites and RSVPs. The Knot Planning Guide is much better.

OK if you are helping with all the arrangements
This was another of my impulse purchases when my daughter got engaged. I had thought that I was going to be the kind of MOB (mother of the bride) who was going to be very involved in all decisions and would be more or less organising things (under my daughter's instructions!). Well, I was wrong and I should have known better as my lovely daughter is independent, capable etc. The best book I bought was a planner type for her which she seems to really appreciate. I am now an unstressed MOB who is just along for the ride. If she wants me to do anything, she'll delegate and I'll be delighted to help...but she's a modern bride-to-be who has been living with her partner for a few years. This book could be helpful if your daughter wants you to run the show, or if you want an idea of what may be expected of you, but personally I didn't need this and it just made me feel unneessarily stressed!
