Works great and exact replacement for my old bathroom fan.

If you are looking to replace an older Broan fan don't bother going to Home Depot. The ones they have won't fit. I tried. Much easier to get an exact replacement so you don't have to modify the sheet metal in the ceiling. Then it is just unplug the old one. Wipe down the opening to get it as clean as possible. Then install the new one. One screw and it is in.

Much quieter and more powerful than the unit it replaced, and the price was very reasonable. Great seller who made sure to list the many alternate part numbers for this, as the industry is against DIY’ers. Would definitely recommend this fan to anyone who likes quieter bathrooms that won’t get too steamy

I bought this to replace my Broan 684F-A motor that had died in my bathroom fan. I had originally purchased a full new kit from a local store but then quickly realized that to install it I would have to remove the existing housing in order to install it. So instead, I purchased this hoping that it would fit into my existing housing. The cost of this alone was more than the brand new kit but was easily offset by the lack of having to demo sheetrock to remove the wash ld housing. This was super easy to install, I literally just unplugged the old motor and plugged the new one in and went on my way. It's not the quietest fan, but it actually works well compared to my old one so I'm happy with it.

We've had the same dust covered, noisy fan for about a decade. It' nice to have one being so quiet. I put this one in and purchased another one for the other restroom. They are a little difficult to install but not too bad. Just make sure you get it in squarely so it doesn't rub.

So I finally changed out my 20 yr old fan with this. It was still serviceable but I had a feeling it was nowhere near functioning at it's peak.Additionally I was tire of cleaning it . I figure 20 yrs is bout time to retire the old gal. It was key that I find the exact model so it's a smooth transplant without having to make adjustments to the vent. I made the mistake of purchasing one with slightly different measurements before that I had to return.I change it myself and the price was right. It's getting hard to find these old models. Everything locked into place nicely!!! I would say it's performing somewhere from 35% to 70% better than my old fan. A lot of times I don't have to leave the fan running another 10-15 minutes after I've used the can or took a hot shower like I did before. I highly recommend it if it's right for your bathroom.

Perfect fit and easy to install

The fan that was in my bathroom was probably the original from 1989. I tried to clean and lubricate it but it refused to work. I am not, by any definition, a DIYer so I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get someone in to replace the fan and because it was so old, I wondered whether I'd need to change the ducting and get the strata involved. After doing some internet searching, I figured out the model I needed to replace the existing fan and found it on Amazon. The construction of the fan itself was laid out exactly how mine was but the blades were plastic, while mine were metal. I figured I could order and if it wasn't the right one, I could return it. It was the exact replacement I needed and it only took me 5 minutes to install. It probably took more time to put the fan cover back on. It is a little louder than I'd like it to be but I also didn't want to have to go through the trouble of modifying the ducting to fit a quieter one. Great buy, easy and fast delivery (and it was a local place too, so I wonder if I had just called around if I could have gone to pick it up instead of ordering it).

I purchased this item as a replacement for my 8-inch by 8-inch bathroom fan from the early 1990s, which was branded as Canadian Tire with the following model number: 52-2705-8-1. The motor had died, and I was worried that I would need to purchase an entirely new unit, which would have been an enormous pain because modern units are all larger than 8-inch by 8-inch, thereby requiring a lot of work for a new rough-in. Broan must have manufactured the old fan for Canadian Tire, because this replacement assembly fits absolutely perfectly. I was able to confirm the part number (S97009745) using the dimensions provided for a different item, which is a stand-alone motor-and-fan unit manufactured by Criditpid and also sold on Amazon. The key is to measure the following: (a) the diameter of the fan, (b) the height of the fan, (c) the diameter of the motor, and (d) the overall height of the fan with the motor. Once you confirm these dimensions for your existing unit, and the 8-inch by 8-inch rough-in, then you can proceed to identify the replacement unit.

worked perfectly as a replacement for my old NuTone fan. It was an easy fit, and while it's a little louder than I expected, it’s still a significant upgrade compared to the old grinding motor I had before.

After confirming that this item was a match for my old Nutone 684N, I chose to order this genuine Broan replacement through Amazon with the hope that the process would be quick and smooth. It was. Came the next day and including unpacking, took about fifteen minutes to install. The new fan assembly fit better (snugger) than the old one and the screw hole matched exactly.
